Strings of Love

Chapter Five

"So, have you given it any thought?" Max asked while standing next to Luca's locker. Luca looked at Max. "You suggested it yesterday,"Luca said, "So I'm gonna need a little more time." 

Max nodded and Luca closed his locker. "Luca, it's been two weeks,"Max said, "I suggested it two weeks ago." Luca smiled and placed his bag on his shoulder. 

"I'm glad you're keeping up,"Luca smiled. Max sighed and walked with Luca. "Yes or No?" Max asked. Luca looked at Max again. "Yes,"Luca said. 

Max smiled. "Meet in the choir room after school and bring your guitar," Max said. Luca nodded and Max left. "It looks like you guys are getting closer and closer everytime I see you,"Kate teased. 

Luca sighed. "You're not funny,"Luca stated while walking away from Kate. Kate followed him. "Kate, go to class,"Luca said. "Hey, what's with you?" Kate asked while grabbing Luca's arm and turning him to her, "Why are you so uptight?" 

"Oh my god, do I really have to spell it out for you?" Luca asked. Kate looked at Luca dumbfounded. "What are you talking about?" Kate asked. "Kate, he wants to be bandmates,"Luca said, "That is something I do not want right now." 

"Luca, what if it helps you?" Kate asked. Luca looked at Kate angrily. "Helps me!?" Luca asked while yelling, "What the hell about all of this is supposed to help me!?" "Luca…,"Kate said softly.

 "You aren't helping me, Kate!" Luca yelled, "You're useless to me! I didn't want to talk to him at all and now look at what you did!" Kate was blinking away her tears. "Look what I did?" Kate asked angrily. 

"Yes!" Luca yelled, "You're no help!" Kate looked at Luca. "Luca, you are the one who can't seem to think about anyone but yourself!" Kate yelled, "You push away everyone who tries coming close to you, and for me, you made an exception!" 

"Because you were someone I could talk to!" Luca yelled, "But I should rethink that!" Kate sighed and broke out into tears. "Are you serious?" Kate asked with tears streaming down her face. 

"Yeah,"Luca said, "I should've let you go a long time ago. You're not walking beside me anymore, you're walking behind me from now on." "The hell does that mean, Luca?" Kate asked while crying. 

Luca walked up to Kate and looked into her crying eyes. "Our friendship is over,"Luca said softly. Kate choked on her words as her best friend just ended their 17 year friendship in front of half the school. Luca noticed Max standing with a few others, who were also listening. 

He went over to him. "No,"Luca said, "I won't be your bandmate. I don't want to be your friend. I wish we never met." Luca left the school and he went back home. 

*Home*

Luca walked through the front door and went upstairs to his room. There was a knock at his door. He opened it and his mom was standing there. 

"Why are you home so early?" His mom asked. "Wasn't feeling too great,"Luca said. "Are you okay?" His mom asked. Luca nodded. "Fine,"Luca answered. 

His mom nodded and left the room. Luca ran into the bathroom and over to the toilet. He stuck his fingers down his throat and threw up some pills. He sat on the bathroom floor, crying. 

"Lukey?" Mariah, his little sister, asked through the door, "Are you okay?" Luca sniffled. "I'm fine, Riah,"Luca lied, "I promise." There were small knocks on the door. 

"Open,"Mariah said softly. Luca stood up, flushed the toilet, washed his hands, and started brushing his teeth. He opened the door and Mariah walked into the room and hugged his leg. 

"Hi little sister,"Luke smiled with the toothbrush in his mouth. Mariah held her arms up and Luca sat her on the bathroom counter. "Why are you crying?" Mariah asked. 

Luca finished brushing his teeth. "A lot of people cry, baby sis,"Luca said. "Why?" Mariah asked. Luca smiled at his 5 year old sister. "It's a way to deal with your emotions,"Luca said. "Everyone cries?" Mariah asked. 

Luca nodded. "Everyone cries,"Luca answered. "Why are you crying?" Mariah asked again. Luca sniffled again.

 "Big brother did some bad things today, and said some things to the people he cares about. He regrets doing that bad thing,"Luca said softly. Mariah hugged her brother. "Smile,"Mariah said, "I like when you smile. It makes me smile." 

Luca chuckled a little and picked her up from the counter. "Let's get you to bed,"Luca said softly while turning off the bathroom light and walking into Mariah's room. He put her in her bed and kissed her cheek. 

"Goodnight,"Luca said, "I love you." "I love you too,"Mariah said. Luca closed her door a little and walked downstairs. There was a knock at the front door. Luca sighed and opened the door. Kate and Max were standing there, his mom behind both of them. 

"I'll be in my room,"His mom said while walking past them and stopping at Luca, "They're your friends. Do what you think is right." 

Luca nodded and Kate and Max walked into the house. They sat on the couch, and Luca sat across from them.

 "...There are some things you guys might want to prepare yourselves for,"Luca said softly, "You can interfere when you want me to stop." Kate and Max nodded.
