Chapter 25

It has been a few days, Alex has been on Addison's service for a while now and has been helping her with a ferry boat accident victim who is heavily pregnant and still unidentified. Alex seems to have grown attached to her since he is always talking about her or something funny she said. It bothers me a lot more then it should considering I am with Mark, we are happy but sometimes I look at Alex and wonder if I made the right choice in going back to something I already know. Right now I am patiently waiting for said man to leave my apartment "Mark, we are gonna be late if you don't hurry up" I check the time and call "aren't you in the running for Chief of Surgery?" I hear a bang and a curse before he comes rushing out. "I'm here" he says with a smile, he kisses my temple and I roll my eyes, shutting the door and locking it.

On our way to the hospital Mark says "we can finally take the wrapping off of the woman's face, you know the pregnant one from the accident" I nod my head as I tie up my hair, I grab a pen and push it through my hair to keep it in place since I forgot a hair tie "I know, Karev won't stop going on about it" I see Mark frown out the corner of my eye and I slump back in my seat and looking over at him I ask "what?" he pulls a face and shakes his head "nothing, I just didn't realise you and Karev still talk" I shrug and glance to the other side, watching passing traffic "we are still friends, you know some people do that if dating doesn't work out" that sentence makes my stomach do a flip because we never really tried the dating thing, other stuff just got in the way. Like Mark, he is a thing that got in the way. As we pull into the parking lot he asks "do you wanna come and see my handy work, I'll bet you will be impressed" I snort and roll my eyes, I step out of the car and grab my bag "I know your skill level Sloan, nothing can surprise me anymore" he huffs and throws his arm around my shoulder as we walk towards the entrance "that's going to have to change" he says into my neck making me giggle and I push him away.

As promised I head to the ladies room in the ICU where Alex and Mark are already waiting. Alex shoots me a smile as I enter and Mark winks, I ignore both of them and head over to the woman "are you ready for the big reveal?" I ask and the lady looks at the two men confused "I'm sorry, who are you?" she asks trying to be polite and that's when I realise and I say "we haven't met yet I'm doctor Andy Tearney" we shake hands before she looks at Alex, her eyes full of recognition "you are the woman Alex won't shut up about, you work in peds right?" I nod my head and try to ignore the look Sloan is currently giving Karev "yes I do". Mark clears his throat and steps forward with a great big fake smile on his face "alright, lets get these horrible bandages off of you" he says and the woman sits up slightly ready for this to happen.

Doctor Sloan peels off the bandages and Alex holds up a silver camera "smile" the woman attempts it although it is a half assed attempt and I say "come on that's not a smile" she sighs and tries again "can I see?" the woman asks, the other interns come in to see the reveal too. Alex shows her the photo he took and she looks sorrowful as she says "that's me? oh my god" but then she starts to laugh like it is the funniest thing in the world "I know this is going to sound terrible, but I'm not bad looking" I smile at how happy this woman is after being in such distress earlier this week. How much can change in such a short space of time, at this thought I look between the two men who are also grinning down at the patient.
