He saw her before he heard her. She was a golden streak falling from the sky (this is due to the high velocity- she was burning as she entered the atmosphere.), and he knew what he needed to do.
He began to run, then he jumped straight into the sky, using a beam from the broken bridge to launch himself exactly 172 degrees into the sky. He slammed into Emma, and they hit the ground.
As they landed Emma's necklace broke, and the powder from it stuck to his skin and sunk in. It burned a bit, like chewing spearmint gum and drinking ice water. Unpleasant, but not too painful. He would just rather not do it again.
As his brain commenced another shut down, he passed out.
When he regained consciousness he noticed the grass around him was abnormally choppy, and a rather short length. He was used to grasses averaging 13-20 inches, this grass averaged a mere 2.
His eyes widened, and he sat up and made direct eye contact with a cow.
In the eyes of the cow he saw the truth, the cow knew he wasn't vegan. He did his best, but on Thanksgiving of 2019 he slipped up and had mashed potatoes from the box, they contained powdered milk. But the cow did not know nor care about his good intentions, and the cow was out for blood.
This won't be a problem. I am a vampire.
It was a problem, he was no longer a vampire. Emma's magic powder had cured him. How unfortunate would it be to die from a cow, but at least it would prove he was mortal.
The cow took a step forward, and Lewis looked around for Emma. She was nowhere to be found, only a singed spot in the field hinted that she had ever been there. The cow thundered a ferocious moo as it charged towards Lewis.
Suddenly the cow halted.
It was afraid of the singed spot, it didn't want to become a filet mignon, and as a cow associated the smell of burning with a terrible end.
Lewis smirked his sexy smirk and stood in the center, then he reached his hand towards the cow, and sent vegan vibes through it's incredibly thick skull (approx: ½ inch).
The cows eyes narrowed, and then the cows fur turned red. Slowly the cow melted into a new shape, it was Emma.
