Chapter 43
I still feel so weak. And I still remember all too clearly what happened before I found myself lying on this hospital bed. Mas lalo ata akong nanghina.
"Hey, you're awake!" Bungad sa akin ni Addie. Kakapasok lang nila ni Celeste sa kwarto. She even clapped her hands while looking at me. Napakunot-noo na lang ako.
I woke up a few minutes ago pero hindi agad ako bumangon because I don't have the strength to do so yet. At wala rin akong lakas ng loob. Baka makasalubong ko siya sa hallway.
Celeste and her walk towards my bed. Habang si Addie ay nag-iingay, si Celeste naman ay tahimik lang na nakatingin sa akin.
"How are you feeling?" Tanong ni Celeste. She's really calm.
"Okay na ako," I said. I still feel a little lightheaded pero okay na ako. I think I can continue with my shift. Kaya bumangon ako and was about to get out of the bed.
"Hoy, san ka pupunta?" Addie asked.
"Babalik sa trabaho?"
"Girl, kakatapos lang ng shift!" Addie mumbled.
"Ha?" Did I sleep that long?
I checked my wristwatch and it's true. Kakatapos lang nga ng shift.
Para akong nanlumo dahil sa nalaman ko. This day was supposed to be a good day kasi first day ko sa Pedia! Pero bakit ganito?
And then I remembered Dr. Tan carrying me again. Ugh! Gusto kong sabunutan ang sarili ko!
"May allergies ka pala sa seafoods. You should watch what you're eating," malumanay na sabi ni Celeste. She sounds like Faith.
I was just really hungry earlier that I forgot to check my food. Turns out, the soup has shrimp. Ikakamatay ko ata ang pagkatanga ko.
"Buti na lang andun si Dr. Tan," sabi naman ni Addie. "Girl, binuhat ka ng isang Dr. Tan, girl!" Para pang kinikilig na dagdag niya. And now, she sounds like Love.
The mere thought of Troy carrying me made my face heat up. Because of embarrassment!
"And also, we called your sister," Celeste said. "Parents mo sana but you mentioned before na madalas sila out of town so we called your sister instead."
"Which sister?" I asked.
"Si Faith. Sorry pinakialaman namin phone mo," Celeste added.
"Papunta na siya dito para sunduin ka," dagdag naman ni Addie. For sure, I'm gonna get an earful from Faith.
Napabuntong-hininga na lang ako.
"We'll wait for them bago kami aalis," Celeste said. She gave me a small smile, revealing her cute little dimples. Umupo ang dalawa sa bakanteng kama na katabi 'nong akin.
"Kwento naman kayo anong ganap ngayon," I murmured. Kanina pa ako bored dito but I chose to stay even if the boredom is killing me kasi wala pa talaga akong lakas.
"Well, benign naman," Addie began. "Hinanap ka ni Doc Alpa and 'nong nalaman niyang andito ka, she visited you, that's what I heard. Pero prepare mo na lang self mo kasi baka you know, mapagalitan ka or mapagsabihan."
"Don't scare her," sabi naman ni Celeste. Nakita niya siguro iyong horror sa mukha ko.
"Hala, sorry!" Addie mumbled. "Pero 'yon nga, benign naman so wala ka masyadong na-miss."
Addie continued on telling me stuff about what happened the entire day. Nakwento niya ring nag-alala daw si Rico because it was him who I was with 'nong kumakain ako, which reminds me I have to assure him when I see him na hindi niya kasalanan kasi hindi niya naman alam na may allergies ako. It's entirely my fault kasi ang tanga ko today.
