Chapter 44
"Gutom na gutom na ako," reklamo ni Addie. "Pero antok na antok din ako. Anong uunahin ko? Kain o tulog? Hindi ko na kayaaaaa," halos naiiyak na dagdag niya sabay higa sa itaas ng bunk bed. Ako iyong nauna sa baba kaya siya iyong nasa taas.
Night shift ulit kaming tatlo nina Celeste. May nagcode kanina sa ICU that's why we're restless. We have a few minutes to rest kaya dito na kami sa on-call room dumiretso para umidlip sandali. Kaso hindi ako makatulog. Nangibabaw iyong gutom ko.
"Addie, kain muna tayo," I murmured while lying on the bed. Pero wala akong narinig na sagot mula sa kanya. "Addie?" I called again. And then she began to snore. "Okay," natatawa kong sabi sa sarili.
Bumangon ako mula sa pagkakahiga and just sat on the bed, contemplating whether to just stay and sleep here or go out and eat some food. Kaso wala akong kasama kasi tulog na tulog na si Addie. Maybe I should just look for Celeste. Baka tapos na siya sa minomonitor niya.
I was gonna stand up when the door opened and it revealed Celeste, holding a huge paper bag of food.

Celeste just shrugged and began eating the burger. Mas lalo akong natakam kaya kumuha na rin ako ng burger and started eating. I noticed the food's good for three- three large burgers, three large fries, and three large drinks!
"Libre mo 'to?" I asked, some food's still on my mouth.
"Sure," she mumbled. Ngumiti siya sa akin saka inabot ang drinks.
"Sana coffee 'to," I murmured after getting the drinks from her.
"Noted," she mumbled. Napakunot-noo na lang ako saka nagpatuloy na lang sa pagkain.
"May naaamoy akong burger!" Biglang sigaw ni Addie mula sa taas. "Nananaginip ba 'ko or may burger talaga dito?" Celeste and I laughed upon hearing it.
"Kain ka na dito, Addie," natatawa kong sabi. Sumilip pa siya mula sa taas and upon seeing us, her eyes widened.
"Hala, shet! Sinong nagpa-burger?" She asked as she hurried on going down.
I just shrugged while Celeste just smiled. Baka may manliligaw 'to tapos nasama kami sa biyaya.
"Kung sino man siya, sana crush din siya ng crush niya," Addie mumbled. Nakaupo na siya ngayon sa sahig paharap sa amin and is now enjoying her burger. "Baka pwedeng mag-request ng pizza next time," she added. Natawa na lang ulit ako.

After eating, I have to go back to the ward. May imo-monitor pa kasi akong pasyente. I heard Dr. Tan's on call tonight pero so far hindi pa naman kami nagkikita. I am assisting Dr. del Fuerto right now, another resident.
"What time will your shift end?" Dr. del Fuerto asked.
"8 am po," I replied. Kakatapos lang namin sa isang admission. A 6-six-year old who was diagnosed with UTI.
Dr. del fuerto checked his watch. "Oh, it's almost 8. You should go have your breakfast and go home," he said. He's on his last year of residency and he's very approachable. All interns like him very much, pati ako. Ang bait niya kasi at laging nakangiti. He really suits here in Pedia.
"Okay po. Thank you for today, Doc."
"Yes, thank you. Good job for today, Dr. Rivera," nakangiti niyang sabi. Muli akong nagpaalam saka dumiretso na sa locker room. Sa condo na ako kakain. May tapa pa naman akong bigay ni Faith kahapon.
