John helped the angel walk to an abandoned barn as Zed and Jade trailed behind him. They got lucky by finding it. Otherwise they'd have to move an actual angel through a crowd of humans.

John glanced around the barn before stepping closer to Jade. "Here, take her."

The angel went to hold onto Jade but she flinched and moved away from the angel. A reaction that didn't go unnoticed by the other strawberry blonde. Zed frowned before gladly stepping in to help.

She was concerned about Jade but all those worries seemed to fade away when the angel looked at her. It was like looking at goodness itself.

John moved some straw around before helping the angel sit down on it. As she did, he wrapped a blanket around her so she'd be more comfortable.

"She's an actual angel," Zed grinned, "Is this the one you know?"

Her friend didn't share her enthusiasm. She paced behind the two of them, never taking her eyes off of the angel. There was something wrong with her.

Perhaps not in all angels but definitely her. Manny made her angry and fearful. This one disgusted her yet she couldn't shake the feeling of familiarity.

"No, this one's a lot prettier." John said.

His head tilted as he observed the angelic strawberry blonde. Unlike Zed, he wasn't in awe because of her species. On the contrary, he was distracted by the fact that she looked so much like another strawberry blonde he knew.

It was difficult not to imagine what Jade would look like in a similar attire and with less guilt holding her down. Is that what she'd look like if she hadn't been through so much suffering? Would she be as radiant as the very angel in front of him?

"I'm Imogen." the angel spoke up.

Her voice rang throughout the barn. As melodic as the humming they had heard coming from her earlier. Manny didn't sound like that, thought Jade.

That knowledge made her think it could be a mirage. A way of presenting herself to be innocent. Yet deep down Jade knew she didn't need to do that to win over the rest of the trio.

"What happened to you, love?" John asked.

Imogen looked up at him with her big golden eyes. The more Jade looked at them, the more orange they seemed. It could be a simple trick of the light but it served as a reminder that the woman in front of them wasn't human.

"I was taking a dying mortal to heaven. I don't know how but he pulled a feather from my wing. He was revived. I fell to Earth."

She made it sound so simple. Yet if it was such an easy task, there'd be a lot more fallen angels around. Jade thought of the priest and found it difficult to believe he'd been smart enough to pull it off.

Though dumber people have achieved even more impossible things than that.

"That must be what I saw in my vision when I touched Zachary." Zed said thinking back on it.

John hummed in agreement. "It's the only way an angel can enter our plane in physical form. Damage to the wings. One feather. Piss poor design, if you ask me."

Jade couldn't help where her thoughts went. Imogen looked so frail. So easy to... Remove. Just one burst of her powers and the angel would cease to be a danger.

As if sensing her thoughts, Imogen turned to look at Jade. The direct eye contact worsened the nausea. She had to take a step back to lesser the need to use her powers.

The more distance between them, the easier it was to think rationally. Jade was no assassin, especially not of angels. The thoughts in her head didn't feel like her own.
