Jade's eyes flickered over the card that John gave to her as an explanation about who he was and what he did. Exorcist, Demonologist and Master of the Dark Arts. Apparently, he was the one to call if there was a creature in town.

She could've used someone like him when she was attacked by one of them. After a few moments of awkward silence, John had asked her about her name and she reluctantly said it. She wasn't willing to discuss anything else with him, but he started talking about why he was in this town.

All Jade understood was that something unnatural had killed one of the miners and he was here to help solve the problem. Zed helped him with her visions, but he ditched her to follow the lead she provided for him.

Jade heard the sound of keys unlocking the front door and she knew Zed was finally here. Relief spread through her at the fact that John was telling the truth and she hadn't wasted time in listening him talk for hours.

When Zed walked into the room, she immediately noticed John half asleep on their couch. Her eyes flew to Jade's in concern but she waved in dismissal. This exorcist was many things, but he wasn't a danger to her.

"Hello, love. Is it morning already? Must've lost track of time while chatting with your roommate." John mumbled.

Chatting wasn't a word Jade would use for their interaction. Whatever happened between the two made Zed quite frustrated with the man laying on their couch.

Jade got up getting ready in case things took a violent turn. As much as she didn't think John Constantine would hurt them, she learnt that that didn't mean he isn't capable of doing so.

"You leave when I want you, and you're here when I don't. I'll make it easy for you. Get out!" Zed demanded.

She dropped her keys on their coffee table and grabbed a few of her sketches that John had been observing while he talked to Jade.

She pushed him into a sitting position while he groaned in protest. If he hadn't been a stranger, Jade might've even found it amusing.

"Oh, don't be that way, love. I had to verify that which you provided. A strict security protocol is in fact required in my business." John retorted.

"I still don't know what you do." Zed said.

Jade handed her the card that John himself had given to her hours ago. After all that she has seen since acquiring her powers, Jade didn't have a problem in believing the man that was now observing the two.

He seemed to not understand how two women with magical abilities stumbled into him at the same time.

"As the card so poetically says, John here is an exorcist, demonologist and master of the Dark Arts. Whatever all that crap means." Jade mumbled.

"And an occasional dabbler of the Dark Arts. Now the question is, who are you two?" John asked.

Jade rolled her eyes at his emphasis on the occasional dabbler. Whoever puts Master of the Dark Arts on his cards and then corrects it must've done something regrettable.

Unlike him, she and Zed didn't have cards that explained who and what they were. They shared a look before Zed turned to John.

"I'm Zed, that's Jade." She said.

Names were all that they told people these days. Even then it felt like they were saying too much. Both of their pasts were trying to catch up with them and neither of them wanted to be there when they did.

John Constantine seemed to have a hunch about that though as he searched for any kind of information on the two of them.

"Right, Zed Martin and Jade Phillips. I found your three-month lease. So what are chicas bonitas in their mid-20s doing slumming it in a one-horse Welsh mining town in the middle of Pennsylvania?" John asked.
