"You haven't moved since I left." John commented.

Jade briefly looked up from the book she was reading to see John waltzing in with a paper bag. He'd been gone for a while, didn't specify where. She figured that she might as well throw herself into research.

Chas narrowed his eyes. "Did you get cilantro?"

"I got tannis root, adder's tongue and catnip, so no." John replied.

His attention went to Jade who had her head buried in one of the many books within the mill. He glanced at the title, saw the word psychic, and then quickly looked away.

It was better to focus on something else. He touched the map with red dots on it but nothing had changed since he left. There was still no leads he could follow. Nothing to distract him from what the future has in store for him.

"Scry map's still dry. You getting anything off that radio?" He asked Chas.

Jade and Chas had been doing their own thing seated at the table. It was comforting to have someone beside her, it didn't allow space for thoughts about the future.

He had been clued in about the vision and theories regarding Jade's powers. So far, he hadn't commented. Only gave her shoulder a tight squeeze as she passed him by earlier that morning.

"I'm scanning for weird, but coming up empty." He said.

In their line of work, no weird was weird. Usually there was always something going on. The lack of activity unnerved Chas. It meant something was coming.

John noticed the red string. "What's this?"

He picked it up and saw it lead into the hallway with the many rooms. Ones that shouldn't be possible, ones that change and ones that are perfectly still.

"Don't go barging in, John." Jade warned without even looking up.

That threat fell on deaf ears as he grabbed hold of the string and went to follow it. A sigh left Jade as she simply turned the next page.

"She wants to be alone." Chas said.

It was his attempt at helping Zed out, but he knew there was no stopping John Constantine. Not when he was determined and believed that he was right.

So most of the time.

"Does she, now?"

With those final words, John set off to find where Zed's been cooped up all this time.

"She needs to rest after her last painful vision. Not listen to John being... well, John." Jade mumbled.

She set aside the book and rubbed her eyes. There was no new information in the book she was reading. There were mostly examples of people with telekinesis and their history.

Most of them acquired the skill through magic or experiments. Nothing like hers. Her powers seem to be unburdened by anything other than her own body.

The energy it takes to wield those powers, to control them, it's a limit of its own. While their impact is technically infinite, her body isn't. Its haven is also its prison.

"You know that the only reason he's pushing her is because he's hoping she'll see a different vision. One where he's not forced to end your life." Chas said.

Jade shifted uncomfortably in her seat. She understands his point of view, but it's pointless to put Zed in more pain. Her last vision left a bitter taste in her mouth and a visit to the emergency room.

"He's in denial."

"And you're stubborn."

Chas could see the strawberry blonde was set on her theory. For someone told that her death is the solution to everything, she was taking it suprisingly well. Too well, in his opinion.
