When we got to our street, I froze.

Michael was confused and looked up from my chest, because I was still holding him tightly.

I let him down and took his hand, softly.

My mom's car was on the sidewalk. That either meant two thing:

One, she was either bored or drunk so she didn't give a fuck,

Or Two. Another car was in the garage.

Probably, my dad was home.

I walked with Michael, I was afraid they were drunk.

When we got into the house, I was lucky enough for my dad to be sleep on the couch. My mom, however, was up and running.

She didn't seem drunk, but she did seem off..

I told Michael to go to his room to play the moment I knew she heard me come in.

The bitch came close to me, with a sweet and toxic smile on her face.

-Hello sweety!! Where have you been?–

–I picked up M-Michael from school.. that's all–

My mom looked disappointed.

–You should start going to parties!! Doing something fun!!! I wouldn't want the neighborhood to think you are too boring now, do we?– She said, spitting venom ‐Already with that body of yours they think you are weird. Don't ruin out reputation Son.–

I hated when she called me that.

–But.. Mother, what if don't want to--

She slapped me then.
I brought my hand to my cheek.

My father came from behind her, wrapping his arms around her like a snake.

–Yes Son. We wouldn't want you to be a f*g, you know? You should get on going with sex before you come out as a fucking gay virgin weirdo!–

His words were sloppy, because of the alcohol, but I was used to it.

Then, Michael came down a few steps  and called me:

–Boo?? Are you coming to playyyy?–

Sometime ago, my name had changed from my deadname to Ranboo.

Ranboo is such an unusual name I would never pick by myself. It stand out a lot.

Yet, that was my preferred name.
Why?

Because Michael would always refer to me as "rainbow" but he would say it wrong.

My father once caught up on the name change, and was furious.

That day I went to talk to Michael, and even if he was young he understood.

He noticed the tears In my eyes and was worried.

He nodded along to all I said, as i hold him close, almost hugging him but not fully enclosing it.

He used the nickname 'Boo' from then on.
