"Hey, Nathan... You don't mind if I could slip into the stables really quickly do you? I want to go see Imperial before I go, if that's alright?" you questioned the tall brown haired man. As tall as he was, he is quite sweet.
"Sure, go ahead, but don't be too long, you have a duty to complete, remember?" He smiled at you and patted your shoulder before walking off.
"Thanks, big man!" You thanked him. You could hear him chuckling as he walked down the cobble streets towards the castle. You turned your attention to what you were originally going to do, and started walking to the stables, where you would see your horse.
You arrived at the stables after 10 minutes of walking. After all, they were near the castle as they are 'royal' horses. You greeted the stable hand people and thanked them for their hard work before stealthily snagging a treat off the side of a table and walking towards your horse like the ninja you were.
"Hey, Imperial~!" you cooed to your horse as you placed a hand on his head and gave him pats. In return, he nudged his head into your hand and made a little exhale of happiness. Imperial, who was a 17 hand thoroughbred, had a silver dapple coat with a grey mane fading into a white/blondish color. He had a white star on his forehead and a pink nozzle. His eyes are a beautiful turquoise. But, despite his absolute beauty, there is one thing you absolutely adored about him.
His donkey ears.
"Yeah, I missed you too, but guess what? I have a present for you~!" You said to the horse. His donkey ears shot forward as soon as you said you had a present. You chuckled lightly and could clearly see he was excited about what you got him. 'I'm so lucky to have a donkey as my noble steed.' you snickered to yourself. Wasting no time, you gave Imperial the treat and smiled as you watch him practically inhale the treat. Oh, you're wondering what the treat was? A carrot.
"Imperial...Buddy... My donkey-" As soon as you said that, the once happily eating horse faced you with a dirty look on his face as he scanned your face as if mocking you and trying to point out a flaw about you, "-I mean, noble steed... I have to go and fulfil a duty now, I'll come back later, and we can go on a little ride in the forest, does that sound good to you, bud?" you asked. In response, the horse happily snorted at you, in agreement.
"Well, that's good. Anyway! I'll see you later- be a good boy for me!" you hollered to him. You turned and walked out the stable but could faintly hear a whinny come from Imperial after you said that. You chuckled to yourself and continued your journey towards the Castle.

You didn't really like patrolling the palace. You had done it once before and wished you would never do it again. Seems fate had other plans for you. You already spent at least an hour just patrolling the bottom floor of the palace. It really wasn't as bad as you thought, but you're just a lazy person. You interacted with a few of the other Palace Guards you had came across and asked how they were. Y'know, just a bit of courtesy. You were known to be quite a fair and respectful person amongst the Kingdom, and you appreciated that. You weren't exactly looking for a high-and-mighty title like 'Right-hand woman' or something. If people respected you, you respected them.
Deciding to patrol the next floor of the West side of the Castle, you went up the polished marble stairs, and looked up to your destination. As you reached the top, you noticed you started to fall short of oxygen and knew you were getting tired of walking around all day and going up stairs, but being the stubborn person you are, refused to take a break and continued lunging up the stairs.
'Damn these stairs are as tiring as listening to complaining folks about their purchases...' You protested.
Finally reaching the top of the stairs, you stopped for a second and placed your hand on the railing of the stairs- bent over, to catch your breath back- heavily breathing. After having a moment to yourself, you managed to gather strength to continue down the halls. You admired the decorations around the hallway- tall, gold pillars supported the ceiling as they were placed at the side of the walls, making skilful use of decoration. The rich, deep-red, carpet, which lay beneath your brown, leather knee-high guard boots, made soft noise after every step you took. You felt like royalty. Paintings were hung on the side as they were placed in such a way, you'd think it was a timeline of all the Monarchs that may have lived here, before your current King and Queen- King Frederic and Queen Arianna.
You weren't going to lie, but being a Guard is tough. the mental training, endurance and physical training was arduous work. But it paid off and was worth it, because you now knew, that you were stronger than you were before. A strong independent woman. You weren't gonna need no man- if you did, you would go for a soldier, like you. Strong, capable of most things, can cook, and most of all caring and loving. That was your 'Ideal man.' As you were venturing further down the halls of the Palace, you came across a certain room. A room that you knew was so deserted and inhabited, you could mentally and physically feel the cold from outside the door. This made you wonder: Why did the room feel so cold, if you're not even IN the damn room itself? You weren't very good at science, but it didn't take a genius to figure that this wasn't normal. Sure, the room was empty and dust may have collected over the years, but it just felt unusually cold. Drawing closer to the room, you took careful steps towards the door, and tried not to make much noise in case someone or something was lurking dangerously behind it. You never know. You never know what goes on behind closed doors.
You stopped as you were now face-to-face with the inanimate object. You could clearly see the dust on the mohogany, oak door simply because it hadn't been touched for so long- 18 years near enough. You thought of a plan, and chose to put your ear to the door. You at once heard shuffling. 'No, that cannot be right...' you argued, 'Nobody has ever entered that room, there is no access into it... unless...' your eyes widened as you realized that someone or something may very well have broken in to the palace, and somehow ended up in the 'lost' princess' room. 'I mean- well... she doesn't use it, so why not?' you wore a small smile on your face as you took your ear off the door. You snapped out of your thoughts as you remembered the task at hand, and focused on what was on the other side opposing to you, rather than that 'runaway bride' as you'd say to Harry.
You knew you'd have to go into that room to find out what was in there. A chill went up your spine like spiders crawling up your back- both of which you hated. You felt like a blanket of ice was layered over you making you freeze in place. You clearly did not enjoy this feeling. Slowly, you lifted your hand and reached it out towards the handle, once again. You felt nervous and panicky as your hand drew nearer to the door. As soon as you placed a hand on the door knob, you immediately heard a 'thud' sound from the room on the other side. You stopped all actions and stood there wide eyed, staring at the door. Oh yeah, someone is definitely in there. You knew it was someone because you heard a voice curse out after that noise. You swallowed the lump that was in your throat and furrowed your eyebrows. You knew you'd have to go in there, but why were you so afraid, if you knew? Was it that, you knew someone was in there, but you didn't know who? Your hand tightened on the handle and you put on a fake brave face as if to try and give yourself some more courage for this situation.
'Oh...? Well... This should be fun.'
