There are people who take you to the shore and leave you hanging. They promise you they'll come back, and ask you to wait so you could crown each other emperor and heir of a deserted island. But this wasn't the story with Rafe Cameron, because my lover hadn't came to rescue me, not yet.
Rafe never knew how to keep a promise, and that by itself is a mean of survival. For me, I've been hidden on a confined island for months, I've seen the good and the bad. I crowned myself as the heir as I promised him I'd do. Little did he know that his spot is still reserved, before it's too late. I could never forget the moment we looked into each other's eyes, before jumping into my brother's secret boat. I still wrap my arms around myself and reminisce the way he pulled my cardigan off my shoulders slowly, his warm bloody hands gripped on my waist as if he'd never see me again. He looked into my eyes and broke the promise before making it, and I read the lines between his the irises of his serene eyes. I know how to read invisible ink, and I couldn't give all my weaknesses to him. He'd made me surrender and leave, because of him, I came back. For unlike him, I knew how to keep promises.
They came, and I wonder if he knew where they are. I'm sure he's searching for them, and forgetting about me. What we had, what he taught me to do so we won't lose touch, even if peeled my skin off his fingertips would remind me why I did all this. Was he worth it?
One look of his and my senses would surrender, if walls could talk, they'd betray us before him and I betray each other. But I would never betray him, for we share a secret. I keep his and he keeps mine, for the country club shall remain alive, it'll cover up the brutality of our lies.
