Forgive me for all the truths i never told you, for all the lies that slipped out of my mouth when i looked into your eyes. The thieves of the night have been watching me through my window, they watched me pour my secrets to the moon for if i ever died it'd tell you why i hid the truth from you. I hate to admit that i am at fault, we had arrived the same day 18 years ago. Both of our fathers sold us to the Thorntons, their fingertips were bleeding from the thorns on our skins. I don't blame my father for not wanting me, even those who pretended to know me don't even care about me. You are my only virtue,  but you she's yours. Now that she's not here, i bite the inner of my cheek, feel my soul pushing itself out of my body; exchanging our souls under broad light, few moments before the sunset. A sinking ship can't be saved by an anchor, sometimes i wish we had met differently. There's a miscellany of ways we could have met through, I could've brushed my knuckles against yours after pushing through people and finding a place in the bus. You could have walked past me and we exchanged death glares because we're both searching for our enemies to lovers story. I could've approached you at a restaurant and asked you why are you eating alone. You could've recommended reading that certain book after watching me being all dazed and confused over choosing a book. You could've dropped your gun in the middle of the street and i would have ran after you to give it back, out of breath, your blue eyes would've been worth it; and I would ask you to teach me how to shoot people I adore. There are people who get chosen to search for dime and gold, while others get asked to dig underground for a brittle bone; then comes my highness, I got asked to kill my step sister. We grew up with our given roles, both are Kook princesses, but one of us is a saint and the other is a sinner.

They thought they were making history, until they lost touch with themselves. Breaking free, they thought coming from the underground and soaking their skins with glory would cure everything, change their past, derive them from being the world's most hated people. It's not like they had a choice, no one chose them, no one prioritized them. Suit up, smile, cherish the luxury we gave you. The blood in their veins was boiling hot, hot enough to burn their feet. Running for their life, the world looked deflated, lifeless. They sucked life out of life so they could survive, the unknown frowned into ashes. When you smile, I cross your mind.

Dune looked behind her ten times in a span of a breath. As for Rafe, he didn't look back once, even though it should've been the other way around. The scar on her thigh burned against her skin, begging the summer breeze of leave open mouthed kisses and it obliged. The devil has gone into its perpetual slumber, under the discreet roof of a cottage that linked the sea with the forest, ending their rivalry. It was ten minutes after Rafe processed the truth, he darted his eyes at Dune, throwing the dart on her collarbones.

"Break the security cameras and be the lover of my nightmare, but that won't change the fact that I am going to make you suffer." he breathed against her neck, then knelt down and picked a bat from under the sink. "Are you insane like me?"

"Don't let them see your pretty face, I've been in as much pain as you." She snatched the bat away from him and looked at the security camera before breaking into pieces. They have been watched all along, like caged endangered creatures, tricking them into freedom. The voices in my head weren't just hallucinations, I've felt so exposed. Glass poured over her like rain, the harder she hit the camera,  the idea of death scared her less. After doing what she's been told, Rafe had hovered Ward, ripping his heart open. One stab followed by another one, Ward was getting helpless by the minute. It's rare to see the devil being put under duress, showing his weaknesses one by one. Those who know the devil knew his biggest fear, death.

If the devil's biggest fear was death, then the monster's biggest wish would be dipping his hands in the devil's blood. "I told you I will make you suffer for torturing me, keeping me under your sleeve."

"Are you aware of what you've done?" screeched Dune, seconds before taking her breath away, pursing her lips with hers then collaring her neck with his grip.

"I made the sinner crawl to my feet, isn't that what we're fighting for?"

"What happened to putting down the fire and moving on?" she asked, pushing him away from her gently, his hot breath against her skin proved how merciless a person can be.

"For all I know, grace is just weakness, and i am the disgrace of my family. We're the same, except that i know who my birth mother is, but what do you know about yours?" he smirked, taking hold of her grip and leaning in, fighting her demons, breaking down her walls. Walls of cement collapsed and crashed down, wood had set itself into flames, she spat at him and hissed through gritted teeth. This was the last straw, no one knows what happened to her mother, it's like she never existed. "Keep her name out of your filthy mouth."

"Your eyes speak a language I know quite well, you're surrendering."

"I relinquished to you from the moment I cupped your face underwater. That's when I knew that i live for saving you instead of saving myself."

"My lover's enemy is my accomplice. Do you know what accomplices do?"

she shook her head, her stomach twisted and turned. Time was running out of their hands, the sun was bound to set, after twilight their faces won't be recognized. They already had each other's faces engraved onto the walls of this cottage, where the son killed his father for killing the love of his life. But if she was the love of his life, what was he doing for the murderer?

"Accomplices forgive each other before the full moon. The moon hadn't arrived yet and I can't seem to let you go, yet I can't seem to forgive you as well."
