"I knew i fell hard and deep when I dreamed of you the next day you drove me to Washington," Tugging her arms around her knees, she rested her head on her kneecaps, too afraid to look him the eyes. But he wasn't there, it's been two weeks since he left, he never kept a promise while she held onto her oath for dear life. Island life, or what Unela chose to call it the "New Paradise," amused her. Sure, she was alone, the heir of a soulless island. She didn't need to climb a tree and grab anyone's attention, no one would have listened anyway. The summer breeze dissolved into bone chilling hisses, she taught herself to remain balanced by standing on glacial ground on her tip-toes. She collected every tear and drank them afterwards to quench her thirst. All she did was to hold onto a false hope, that her grace would come back and they'd ruin the world together. If there's anything i ever wanted from you do, was to think of me highly, she thought.
"Your father wanted you for himself, Dune wanted you for herself. I, guilty as charged, wanted you for myself. I don't think a human being actually could be such selfish, but all i wanted was to break my bones for you, my beautiful disaster." She whispered, making sure the words she said were written in the fog. She didn't have a pen nor papers, she scarred every single standing tree on the island, no more words could fit; and she had a lot to say.
"I never knew your smile would break down my walls, I never knew what you were doing on the other side of Paradise; it's not like i wanted to know, I just craved hearing your voice again. My heart on my sleeve, I wrapped my mind with foil knowing quite well it'll poke a hole and set everything on fire. My surroundings, my sacrifices, and my existence were all set on fire. I know i had said i dreamed about you a lot, but most of my dreams glorified sin. Sometimes i would wake up in the middle of the night, with my heart resting between my palms, beating insanely making New York roar. But the weirdest part was that whenever we were to jump, I'd jolt up gasping for air. You would hold my hand, revive a reality i always dreamed of having with you, then smile. The way you smiled in my dreams made me cry, it still makes me cry, i refuse to believe my tears would ever dry because of you. I will keep on weeping until i drown myself and this piece of land along with me, even though when i jumped off that ship i vowed not to shed a single tear. Yet if there's anything I learned from you was that If I couldn't keep a promise, I shall break it."
"Fucking Rafe," hissed the boy with the golden boy, he watched the love of his life from afar, talking to herself; pouring her heart out for no one to listen. They found her, they found them. They were on the same ship, and on the death ship one had to jump so the other could embark. Not only one had to jump, but a bunch misfits jumped along; all for his highness to leave his lover behind. They knew, and they saw it all. They heard it all, the truth of who killed who, of who went where. They knew Unela killed Dune, they knew Rafe stabbed Ward to death. They wished on the sky to rain, but the rain never came until Unela's tears fell down her cheeks. Sarah drew in a breath before taking a step forward, but John B pulled her arm and pushed her back. She must not see us, we'll have her question her surroundings first; it's us versus her on this island.
It was no longer a battle between the Cameron's. John B and Unela have been fighting on the edge of a thread, silently, hurting themselves without scarring anyone else. Ever since Unela knew she had a sibling, other than the one who didn't share her blood, hatred grew through her veins. She felt a competition growing around her, a competition she never signed up for. She had someone else to be compared to, except that this one shared her blood. It wasn't just a comparison of who's poorer or who's wealthier, who's stronger or who's weaker, who belonged and who never belonged. Their eyes spoke the same language, but one of them was way too good at paraphrasing. Unela felt the air get warmer, someone's breathing the same air as her. Rafe, she thought. She turned around, looked sideways then closed her eyes. If it was Rafe, his screams would've turned the trees naked, making them fall down on their knees. The moon would have appeared, speaking of which, where's the moon? she thought as she realized that the sky had been starless and moonless for days.
"JJ don't," whispered Kiara as she tugged on his arm, her nails dug into his skin, making his veins hiss in agony. "I'm sorry Kie, I tried; but I couldn't." He couldn't finish, he didn't know what to say, he watched his lover run with someone else, and yet he counted on the stars not to explode and have him win her back. They knew JJ was making a mistake, they also didn't knw what went on through JJ's head. Love and Power, love and betrayal, love and pain and forgiveness and survival. Love, Love, Love.
Digging his feet into the sand so he could stand steady, he scribbled a couple of words in the fog before tip-teoing his way towards Unela. Pope face palmed, Kiara tore her heart into pieces, John B and Sarah watched and observed. If JJ wanted something, he'd do everything in his power to have it, even if costs him watching the world fall into flames. The closer he was to her, the warmer the air got. Her breath hitched, her eyes remained fully closed. The space between his fingertips and her skin was equivalent to a feather.
"I don't think the moon's going to show up anytime soon, Unela."
