It had been rather a pleasant evening.

That is if you count two akumas in one day pleasant. Multimouse was mad, mad because she was this near to perfecting a macaroon recipe when the villain had, once again, interrupted and broken her concentration.

She was irritated sure, but her irritation was based on the wall between her and Adrien. He wasn't even joking about mice anymore. But of course, they both stayed in denial of the barrier, even if it meant lashing out at issues that were an everyday thing. Denial. One of the many things the pair had in common.

They were currently battling the...what did he call himself? The Gingerbread man yes.

"Hawkmoth getting hungry or he's just too bad at puns."

Aspik muttered.

Aside the ridiculous names, the powers were no joke. He was shooting batter which turned civilians into a gingerbread, and the heat of the day melted them immediately, for some reason, this batter wasn't quite the slow dough.

Then he created a minion which sneakily climbed a building top, shooting at Marinette.

Marinette dodged as Aspik spun both of them around, his chances of getting hit higher. And then Aspik was hit.

He wasn't hit. More likely scraped. The ball of batter scraped his arm as Multimouse got hit and turned into a gingerbread man. Her blue eyes now frosting, her grey and pink suit her accessories.

He watched her as she tried to speak when he saw her feet...or bread feet crumbling and melting as he finally slapped his bracelet, hardly noticing his right arm was also now gingerbread.

He saw the flash happen as he saw Marinette melt. They were back to dodging and he saw Marinette about to turn when he pushed her down to the second rooftop, him landing atop.

He got up and so did Multimouse who brushed off dust, and when she looked at him, he was fuming. He may as well have smoke coming out of his ears.

"Are you insane?! You know how many times I see you get hit all the time trying to protect me? I don't need your protection! I need you safe!"
Multimouse was taken aback.

"I don't like seeing you take hits just as you don't like seeing me."

She grit her teeth as Aspik stared her in the eye. Truth was, the guilt of Chat Noir sacrificing himself again and again, following Chat Blanc had left her traumatised, and she couldn't watch Adrien do the same. Even if she didn't know who Aspik was, it'd hurt the same, just that knowing it's Adrien hurt to the heart.

"Maybe I've seen much myself! Too see you die, if Ladybug hadn't given me the power for restoration you could've had a mislocated arm Aspik! And don't make me mention Tech, Aseria, Doctor Not, Blades Keeper! You got hit in all! I'm tired of seeing you die!"

He gulped. Of course, it would hurt all the same, but he knew her. She didn't know he was a part of her life. She didn't know how much she meant to him.

As a friend.

However, what she whispered next had him shook. And if they weren't so close he probably wouldn't have heard her.

"And Chat Noir."

It was soft, light but his instincts picked it up.

She knew Chat Noir? She'd seen him get hit? Why did it matter to her?

He wondered how many fights Multimouse had been a part of without him knowing.

It's not as if Ladybug told him anything anymore...

"I... just don't want to see you hurt."

He hugged her, putting his head on her shoulder as tears slowly streamed down.

"I don't either."
She hoarsely replied back.

"So... keep each other safe and no one gets hurt?"

She smiled as Aspik nodded, the barrier now crumbled. The secrets still remained; however, their unity had been restored, and that was enough.

A large ball of dough now covered the sky, sunlight being blocked as Aspik turned to Multimouse.

"Ready?"

"Ready."
