Cora~
Charlotte's laughter makes my ears ring, not that I'm much better.
"Next one! Next one!" I squeal.
"Girl are you Tik Tok starved? We've been watching these for hoursss." She whines, a smile on her face. She nudges me playfully and I roll my eyes.
"We don't have these kinds of Tik Toks there." My head flops back into the pillow of her bed. She giggles.
"Well, it must be hard to make content when technically, they're all characters already." She cackles, legs kicking as she laughs.
A thought zings through my mind, sobering me instantly.
"Oh my god." I whip my head to look at her. "Are there tik toks about the guys?" I ask.
Charlotte looks at me, looks back at her phone, and then gives me a sheepish shrug. "Mayyyybe?"
"Why haven't you shown me any of those?" I grab her shoulders and give her a little shake, just enough to make her black bob get into her face. She groans, fixing her hair and promptly hiding her face.
"Because you know them." Her voice comes out muffled behind her hands. "And what if it causes a rift in the multiverse?"
"I'm from this universe originally. And even me living there hasn't broken anything." I pry her hands away from her bright red cheeks. "You have to show me some."
Charlotte releases the longest sigh I've ever heard, but she reluctantly grabs her phone again. I watch as she opens her gallery, and I blink at how organized it is.
"Which one would you like to see first?" She asks, worrying her lip between her teeth. I think on it for a moment.
"I want to see some of Jason's. His can't be too bad, right?" I question. Charlotte hesitates, but opens the folder.
Video after video, I feel my heart start sinking in my chest.
"Betty Boop?" I ask, my throat feeling tighter every second the video plays.
"Mhm." Her eyes avoid mine.
"There's 3 categories here." I continue.
"Mhm." Her face turns the colour of Jasey's helmet.
"Ones that make us both a little uncomfortable at the moment. And he'd get the biggest ego if he knew." She looks like she'd rather be anywhere else, and I can't blame her after what I saw.
"Yep." She squeaks. Apparently it's not just Tim she has a thing for.
"Ones that truly capture the huge dork he is. I'm actually glad this dimension sees the books almost as much as the guns, ya know?" I divert to my next point.
"Oh absolutely." She deflates, finally looking me in the eye. "It's kind of a newer revelation, since people doing character analysis for fun got more popular." I nod along.
"Right. But then there's..." I eye the screen, which is still playing a clip of Jason screaming for Bruce. It stabs at my heart.
I knew. I knew in a distant, secondhand kind of way.
It wasn't ever, fully explained. I learned everything I know about the boys past's from the death jokes and Charlotte rambles.
I feel like I'm a fly on the wall, watching my brother's death, his biggest trauma, repeat in 30 second videos spliced to angry music.
But there's so many different media's, and ways it plays out. A video game, a movie, even a comic here and there.
"He can never know." I decide. Charlotte purses her lips.
