I walked with a bounce in my step as we set off for the metal room. I giggled quietly as I grabbed Moore by his stiff shoulders and knocked him onto his side. Fifteen sighed and held me back as I started inching him toward the panel.
“Don’t kill him before we can torture him,” the Incubus chuckled. “There’s no fun in that.”
Fifteen was careful with Moore’s seemingly lifeless body as he helped the human down into Zack’s torture chamber. My fingers lingered over a red button before Fifteen was even out of the room and back up with us.
The Incubus screwed around with a few wires before climbing out. I unfroze time, leaving the door to the metal room open. Lights flashed on in the room for the first time since I’d been there, and Moore looked terrified. I slammed my fist down on the red button.
“Hey, T?” Zack said quietly. I turned my attention to him. “Maybe you should take a break.”
“I’m fine, Zack,” I laughed. “Really, sweetheart.”
“No, I mean, I know you think you’re fine, but you’re eyes are solid black and you’ve got claws sharper than mine right now,” Zack blushed. “Just come sit with me, okay? It scares me when you get torture-happy like this.”
I gulped and nodded, moving to sit in his lap. I leaned into his strong chest as his protective arms wrapped around me and sealed me in a cocoon of warmth. It got better when his wings folded around us. He rocked me back and forth, humming quietly and kissing my forehead.
My claws shortly disappeared and I hummed along to whatever Zack was humming. “I never got my phone call,” I giggled.
“We’ll make it up soon enough,” Zack said quietly. “I wonder if Eros still hates me.”
I was quiet, not sure how to say the words. Zack was quiet, too, and I hoped he understood my silence. “I don’t think he does.”
“Because he’s dead, isn’t he,” Zack sighed, already knowing the answer. “And Iris?” More silence. “Oh.”
I gulped, burying my face in his neck. “I can’t imagine what it’s been like for Taylor. Poor thing. He’s been going through hell from what I could tell of our phone calls.”
“T, I don’t mean to interrupt,” Fifteen said softly, “but it’s done. He’s still awake if you wanna finish the job.”
I shook my head, knowing I shouldn’t play with fire. The Incubus nodded and crawled through the panel. There was an eerie silence until Fifteen crawled back up since the audio was off.
“We should stay here until we can kill Seven and Saint. They’re the only other powerful ones we need to worry about,” Sin advised. I nodded. “That means Zack should probably stay down there and we should probably cut the lights if we want to make things a little believable before we start dismantling heads.”
Zack nodded and headed down into his room. He dragged Moore’s dead body under his bed after pulling out our myriad of weapons. His eyes shifted to black before the lights went off and I watched him through the window while we waited. He watched me, and eventually I started pacing. Fifteen shut the door, trapping us in somewhat until one of the others walked in.
Seven burst through the door not long after we shut it, and I stopped all movement. She glared at me, “Where’s Moore?!”
I shrugged my shoulders. “He’s not following you?”
The Succubus paced nervously. “When’s the last time he checked on you?”
“Five, maybe ten minutes ago,” Sin nodded. “Did a certain Succubus lose her pet?” he giggled, earning a slap to the face. He rolled his eyes, but didn’t taunt her any more.
