SOPHIA

✺✺✺✺✺

We got to the hospital and the doctors immediately took Michael in, thankfully. They did not let me go in with him, so here I am now, sitting in the waiting area.

We have not been here too long, so I've just been sitting here for a short while. I think Michael is going to be alright. It might sound selfish or insensitive of me to say, but I am more worried about Luke. He just ran off after he acknowledged what he had done. It worries me how ruthlessly he was hurting Michael.

He was like a different person when he was punching Michael; it kind of scared me to see how violent he could get. Hopefully he is okay and he isn't doing anything harmful.

I am dragged out of my thoughts when I hear a man screaming. All the nurses and the people waiting, turn in the direction that the scream came from. The mysterious persona continues to scream, but even louder now. I am trying to focus on what they are saying, but I am not very good at deciphering their words.

Out of nowhere I clearly hear him scream, "Amanda!" My heart races at the mention of my best friend's name, but I am trying to convince myself that they are not talking about her. All my hope was lost once I recognize the voice as Ashton's.

As soon as realization hits me, I bolt out of my seat and run towards Ashton's helpless screams. Nurses and a doctor run past me and into a room. I follow them in hopes of finding Ashton. His voice soon grows weaker and weaker, like he is giving up. Without anyone noticing, I slip into the room that those nurses and doctor just exited out of.

"Sophia?" Calum asks once I enter the room. I look at Calum and then I see Litzy next to him too. I look for Ashton and my heart drops when I finally spot him, he is laying in the hospital bed.

"What happened to Ashton? Is he okay? Does Amanda know?" I start asking all the questions swimming around in my head.

"He fainted, most likely, and no," Calum says quickly.

"Why have you not told Amanda?" Calum and Litzy exchange glances and I am just lost.

Calum takes a deep breath and softly says," Amanda got in a severe car accident and she's in surgery right now..."

His words come crashing onto me and all of a sudden I need to throw up.

"Wha...what?" Tears start to rim my eyes at the thought of my best friend not making it. "How critical is her condition?" I ask unsurely.

Litzy quietly whimpers and says," she might not make it, she lost a lot of blood." Tears start spilling out of my eyes at a faster rate, my heartbeat starts racing, and my body slightly shakes. My best friend since we were little kids might not make it... The thought absolutely breaks me. Another death so soon cannot happen. By this point I am full on sobbing.

My legs can't hold me anymore so they just give out. I just lay on the ground and cry until my eyes are dry.

After a long period of time, my sobbing subsides and I sit up on the ground.

"Why are you here if you didn't know about Ashton or Amanda?" Litzy asks me breaking the silence.

"I was with...a friend and then he ended up punching my other friend. My friend that got punched broke his nose and kind of went unconscious," I say not mentioning names.

Calum looks at me with a face that reads 'I can smell the bullshit off of you'.

"Luke punched Michael." Calum says more of a statement than a question.

I look at him wide eyed and tried to cover up the fact that I just acknowledged that he is right.

"Mhm, see, I told you," Calum says sort of smirking, which is odd considering the situation we are in.

"If Ashton is okay then why is he unconscious?" I ask noticing that he is not waking up.

"He got out of control screaming for Amanda and the doctors kind of came in and had to sedate him."

"Holy crap," I say out of disbelief of the scene. You know the situation is not going well when someone has to get sedated.

We were just sat in silence for a while until I broke the ever so delicate muteness.

"I am going to go check on Michael since I am part of the reason he is even here." Neither Litzy or Calum say anything, just nod; I leave shortly after.

I go to the front and ask for Michael Clifford. They politely direct me to where he is stationed at the moment. I may or may not have lied and said I was his girlfriend so I could get into his room, but that is besides the point.

I get to room 403 and knock so I do not walk in on something accidentally. A nurse opens the door and smiles at me.

"Are you his sister or girlfriend?" She asks me much to my despair.

"Girlfriend," I say quietly. She opens the door wider and moves aside for me to enter the white plain room.

Michael is laying in the hospital bed with a bandaged nose, oops.

"Hey girlfriend," he says emphasizing girlfriend while snickering like a little kid.

I roll my eyes and say," shut up, Michael, they would have not let me in if I had said I was just your friend."

"Mhm, sure. Hello, this is Sophia Gordon- my girlfriend; it has a nice ring to it doesn't it?" Michael says while smirking as best as he can considering his nose is all bandaged up.

"Michael, stop," I say while laughing lightly.

I do not want to admit it, but I miss Michael.
