Old Sue's mansion felt like a cold and sad place but for our little, heavenly bedroom.

When I woke up that Sunday morning, the storm was gone, and the sun was high in the sky. I batted my eyelashes a couple of times, enjoying the sunlight coming from the balcony. The white curtains looked soft like clouds. Finn was still asleep.

I was still lying in bed with Sigi. We were naked but for the white bedsheets.

"Good morning, meine Glühbirne," he whispered right into my right ear. He was still hugging me from behind on the bed, in the same position we had fallen asleep.

Then, his left hand snaked its way up my right arm and laced his fingers with mine. I felt his exposed biceps brush the skin of my arm. His hand and mine connected as if they were meant for each other. His spooned mine. I blushed and felt a warm, protective aura.

What wouldn't I give to stay like that forever?

I turned my face and met his hungry yet lazy eyes. He brought his face closer to mine. His rebellious fringe tickled my skin while we kissed softly for some time.

Despite the recent hardships we had had to endure, and those which would soon be upon us, it felt good to be part of that little paradise for a few more minutes.

He stopped kissing me and groaned.

"What time is it?" he asked whispering with laziness as if he would rather spend the rest of the day with me in bed.

"Time to fulfil our duties," I whispered back at him in a bittersweet voice. "We need to do one last thing for Old Sue. Besides, we can't stay here forever."

"So, this is it," Sigi said while both of us finished burying Old Sue in her back yard using a couple of spades we had found in the basement

"So, this is it," Sigi said while both of us finished burying Old Sue in her back yard using a couple of spades we had found in the basement. "Should we say some words or leave some flowers on her grave?"

"We should," I whispered back with sadness.

It was almost midday. We had buried her at the far end of her backyard, close to some wild rose bushes and thickets of different kinds, close to a rising stone cliff. Her veggie garden looked plentiful, as much as the fruit trees. I had never seen such a huge variety of plants and fruits together.

I saw some wildflowers which I didn't recognise. Eros probably would, since he loved flowers of all species. I carefully arranged an improvised bouquet and gently laid it over the earth where Old Sue hopefully would find some rest.

"For a woman with a great empathetic quality and a generous kind of love, whom I had the pleasure to meet," I said, not really sure about what to say. Traditional humans never celebrated funerals, only candle ceremonies.

I took Sigi's hand while we stood in front of the grave.

"This funeral and these flowers are for you," I added with melancholy. "It's a pity I couldn't get to share more time with you and be there for you when you passed away. Loneliness was your greatest foe, and I would've loved to fight it off and banish it from your life."
