That kiss didn't last for long – or not as long as I had wanted it to last, that is. A few minutes later, I had already changed into my summer pyjamas and was lying on my bed with my hacked mobile phone in my hands, anxiously waiting for a text message from Sigi saying he had got home safe and sound.
Staring at the phone's screen and waiting for a message to flash before my eyes were insanely boring. I waited. Nothing. More minutes went by. Nasty thoughts were plaguing my mind.
I sighed, left the phone on my nightstand, and stared at the ceiling. I heard my father lightly snoring. I assumed he had been asleep that entire time, fortunately.
I checked the time on my good, old alarm clock. It was almost midnight. That was when my phone softly vibrated. I had got some text messages from Sigi.

I chuckled when I read that. That pride would get him killed someday. I texted back thus:

With him, I assumed. I sighed deeply. On the one hand, I felt his wish to protect me amazingly heart-warming. On the other, I couldn't let him kill someone for me. I didn't want that weight on me.
I was biting my lower lip. Texting was alien to me. All I could think of was that I would've liked to stop him physically and stare into his eyes to make him reconsider. I realised I couldn't stop him. He would act in the way he thought was best regardless of my principles. That was when I got two more texts from him:
