There was only one thing worse than the kids thinking I was Siegfried's girlfriend.

Momo witnessing the scene.

She was spying on us through the window of her bedroom, on the second floor of the building. She had the look of a ruthless killer with those narrowed eyes, a deep frown, and a toothy, wry face full of disgust.

"Fuck, I'm screwed," I whispered while I stared at her and got a cold sweat. "Momo's watching us."

"Momo's watching us?!" Siegfried replied, also looking up. "Shit."

"What's your name?" a boy asked me.

"How old are you?" a girl asked me.

"Since when are you Sigi's girlfriend?" another girl asked me.

"I've never seen you around before. Are you new in town?" another boy asked me.

"Oh, please..." So many questions were making me feel awkward.

"Look, she's wearing a screwdriver in her bun. How cool!" a girl exclaimed.

Then, they started yelling a traditional song as they circled us and closed in on us, pushing our backs and forcing us to be together in front of each other. We were only a few inches apart. Without realizing it, Siegfried had put his hands on my waist while I had put them on his biceps.

"Sigi and Daphne, sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G!"

When the children finished singing, they laughed and jumped like crazy around us, and kept pushing us in such a way that our bodies ended up colliding repeatedly. Siegfried and I were blushing revealingly.

"Kids! ENOUGH!" their supervisor exclaimed. She had finally arrived there. She was fuming.

"Go back to the beach immediately! Did you hear me?! I'm sick of you always running away for any excuse!"

The children let us be and focused on their supervisor. They begged her to stay there for a few more minutes. Siegfried and I could separate from one another.

"Hey, lovebirds!" Gabi shouted all of a sudden using a sly voice, wearing the face of a wicked goblin, from the open window of his room. "If you want to kiss each other and pervert these little kids, do it elsewhere! We want to get some sleep in here, coño!"

Both Siegfried and I were speechless and stunned. Then, Gabi winked at us, closed the window, and got out of sight.

Meanwhile, Momo had seen and heard absolutely everything. She looked like an evil dragon about to spit fire from her mouth. But the worst was that the kids' supervisor glared at us with lethal fury.

She was about to scold us when the kids pulled her back to the beach to appease her. It worked. Momo had also disappeared. We were once more alone.

"You said the kids do this whenever they see you?" I asked Siegfried in disbelief.

"They can't help it," he replied with a nice, big smile, staring ahead of us at the group of children pulling their supervisor's hands and forcing her to run down the promenade.

"You're their bloody hero, aren't you?" I added, smiling.

He looked over the moon with it but said nothing.

"Wow," I added with a funny voice. "You love it, don't you? You're not just a roller hockey player. You're the kids' idol. You're a freak too. You like being adored."

I had caught him, and he knew it, but he didn't seem to mind. We were staring into each other's eyes and smiling. A familiar voice interrupted our intimacy, though.
