"Neon purple, like the Neon Sea," Sigi added with a leaden voice, "like the substance Taro has been working on in his amateurish lab."

"WHAT?!" I exclaimed as I had been told I had grown an extra set of arms and legs.

"Are you sure they don't hurt?" Sigi asked, breathing in and out heavily. His pupils were shivering, filled with dread. "At the end of the day, that water had the original pollution of the Neon Sea, the palaeoviruses, and to make matters worse, it was stagnant."

I knew. It should have been a fatal cocktail.

"No, they don't hurt at all," I replied. Was I dreaming I was fine? That would make much more sense.

"Can you see just like you used to?"

"Yes, I don't feel any difference," I answered looking around me, checking how objects looked at different distances. "The toxic water must've changed my eye colour. But how?"

"No idea, meine Glühbirne." He was staring at me in disbelief as if I was a rare species of bird or a unicorn.

"Do I look... weird?" I asked, raising an eyebrow and feeling unsure.

"Scary as fuck."

Okay... The deadliest asset under Agape's command thought I looked scary. Great, just great. I sighed in an admission of defeat. Well, at least my voice and my face were completely fine.

But then, Sigi's eyes were staring at me with a mix of wonder and naughtiness.

"I love it," he immediately added with a genuineness I found out of place. He seemed thrilled about it, as well.

"What?!" I exclaimed in a whisper. His last comment dumbfounded me.

"If I were a clone cop and found you in a dark alley at night, I'd call for a hundred reinforcements while I'd be peeing my pants."

"Thanks for the compliment," I replied with sarcasm and hooded eyelids.

He was looking at me with a broad smile.

"I need a mirror. I have to see this monstrosity I've become for myself," I said while slightly turning my body to stand up from my bed.

But I couldn't stand up.

Sigi had softly put his hands on my forearms. When I turned to look at him, he whispered:

"You're not a monster. This only proves you're stronger."

He left me speechless.

Then, he reduced the few inches that separated us to none, and I found his lips on mine.

His right hand fled to my nape. Both of us closed our eyes and let it all go. With his left hand flat on the mattress, he adopted a more comfortable pose and sat closer to me.

Since he was taller than me, he had to bend his neck a little to kiss me. Without realising it, I gently put my hands on his chest. I couldn't think of anything but him and that kiss, geared by many unfulfilled desires deep inside us.

The kiss deepened as much as the need to enjoy life to the fullest grew in me. It was a seed that Diya and Gabi had planted in me. Their kindness and friendship were the earth and water that had nurtured it until the plant had started to push its way up towards the sunlight.

It didn't take him long to put his left arm around my waist. I felt those steel bars that were his humerus, radius, and ulna squeeze me with all the love in the world. He pushed me softly until I was lying on the bed and he leaned on the full length of my body.
