Gotham City, Caitlin's Aptmt.

The smell of cinnabuns filled my little apartment and cheerful music played throughout my kitchen.
I love Christmas.
I heard a honk outside my window, I looked out and was surprised that two stories below me was a silky new black mercedes, looking totally out of place in the grungy city streets of Gotham.
A tall body emerged from the car, the tall blonde Luke. I decided to go downstairs and meet him.
"Hey." He said, planting a cold kiss on my cheek.
"Hi. What's with the new car?"
"It's for you Cait. Merry Christmas."
"Really?!" I squealed. "Wait. How'd you get this kind of money?"
"I have my ways Caitlin you know that."
"Well if you 'ways' include stealing or robbery I can't take it."
"I bought it with my own money, ok? But I won't tell you how I earned it."
"Why?"
"Trust me. Be happy you're getting this! I'm pretty sure Liam wouldn't be buying anyone this."
"Don't compare yourself to Liam." I said, still feeling queasy about the car.
He came closer. "Anyway. Since when do you care about me stealing or doing something bad?"
"Since I left your side for two months." I mumbled.
"Caitlin." He said. "Once evil, always evil."
"I'm not evil Luke I'm just not...Good."
He furrowed his brows. "Same thing." And leaned in to kiss me.
We quickly pulled apart when I felt a wave of heat.
And then a roar of fire.
"CAITLIN CALL 911!" Luke yelled, watching my apartment as it crumbled before our eyes.
"I DONT HAVE A PHONE!" I cried. "It was my cinnabuns. I left them in the oven!"
"I don't have my phone either. Stay here I'll run to the nearest payphone. Don't go near it!"
I cried as all my things burned to a black crisp. I pulled my sweater closer to me because I was cold and it was the only thing I'd have left, along with a new car that didn't feel like mine.

Being as it was a holiday automatically I wouldn't have homeschooling today and tomorrow, and I was relieved. The longer I could hide from him the better.
As I flipped through the channels, watching Christmas specials of tv shows. I stopped at the news.
Newscaster: "Today, Christmas Eve, at 10:07 a.m, a gigantic apartment fire started on Blake Av. 7th street.""Seventh street..." I mumbled to myself.
Newscaster: "It all started when the Christmas morning tradition of Cinnabuns were in the oven too long. Teen Caitlin Dargus was able to escape before knowing that the fire was beginning, but as her boyfriend ran to call for help there was something in the burning building that she most definitely needed to get."I couldn't believe what I was seeing. What would be so important in her apartment that she would risk her life for?
Newscaster: "When her boyfriend came back Caitlin was sprawled on the sidewalk, without any objects, coughing up black dust and revealing severe burns. More information to come on NEWS 4-NEW YORK."Payne Manor

It was about time the little package came in the mail. I could see my breath on the way to the mailbox.
"This is perfect." I said, holding it up to Alfred.
"Very nice." He said. "Your mother would have liked it."
I smiled, looking down. I hope he didn't see me wipe a tear at the thought of my mother.

"So can you sew it?" She asked hopefully, I held the completely shredded cape in my hands.
"It's gonna take more than that." I said. "The chemical makeup that provides your powers could be destroyed."
"I'm sorry." Nicole said.
"You should be apologizing to yourself. For now, until it's fixed, you're powerless." I said.
"Powerless?" She said quietly. "I have nothing? Didn't you give me--"
"The only power that went through to you was the ability to have the cape work for you. A normal person couldn't use it."
"God I feel so useless. What do I do when he comes after me?"
"I don't know. Run?" I grinned.
"Don't be sarcastic with me. I need your help."
"Well it's not like I can ask Cat to keep an eye out for you. And I have a job."
"You're being never selfish right now Ivy." She said.
"Really? Because you're nothing without the cape that I made you."
"That's not true. I'll prove it." She said, running away into the woods.
"TRY NOT TO DIE!!" I called out to her.
