Gotham City
Caroline's Apartment
Sunday Nov 15 2:47 a.m.Caroline
"Hi Caroline. I'm here." He said.
"Can you tell me your name now?" I said to him with a little laugh. "Or show me your face." I walked closer to him, dressed in his costume in a glorious black.
"I shall not." He said.
"Why can't thou?" I giggled.
"I'm not your handsome superhero you dream of." He said, ashamed almost. "I don't want you to be disappointed."
"I don't care what you look like!"
"I-" He started.
"Please just tell me who you are. Show me. What if I need help I don't even know what to call you."
"I always know when you need help."
Ignoring him I raised my hands, with slight hesitation I started to pull up the mask from the chin, he didn't protest...
I woke up fast, I held my head in my arms. My clock was blurry but I think it read 2:49. It was a dream, of course. I won't probably ever see him again. Well, I never actually saw him in that first place.
I know why I woke up, I heard something. Not having my contacts in was a disadvantage, I reached for my glasses I rarely wore.
I heard another sound. I got out of my bed, cold from wearing shorts and turned on the light in my kitchen.
"Hello?" I said, like anyone would be like 'Hey I'm right here! And don't look for your steak knife in the drawer because I have it and I'm going to stab you now!'
Window. It's open. I should be scared, I'm not. Nothing could be worse than what me and Zayn went through in the cemented building right?
"Hey." I heard a voice. I slowly turned around, I now face a girl maybe a year older than me. She's wearing all black leather, her hair is short black, her skin tan.
I stood frozen.
"Breathe. I'm not armed." She said, raising her hands-- her fingernails were long and black, they reminded me of a...
"My name's Cat." She said.
Of course. Open window, middle of the night, long nails.
"Zayn's friend." I said.
"I wouldn't say friend." She said in a long, womanly voice. "Though I care for him very much on the streets."
"Is he hurt. Is that it what you came to tell me because it's killing me every day that I escaped and he's still there." I said angrily, tears unwillingly fell.
"Two reasons I came." She paced, her leather boots clicking. "One: Zayn wanted me to tell you he's ok. Not good, ok."
"What's happening to him?" I demanded.
"They won't let him go until.."
"TIL WHAT?"
"Until they have you."
"Me." I sat down, I'm so tired of my head always hurting. "Why."
"The same reason I sent Zayn to fetch your parents' box."
"YOU." I stood again. "That's so special to me! Why would he.."
"Zayn doesn't love you." She said. "He needs you. Gotham needs you."
"What are you even talking about!!" I'm angry now.
"You're special and you know it." She said.
"Special." I laughed of pity.
"Let me see the scars you have from that night."
"They're gone." I said quietly.
"Mmmhm." She said. "This wasn't the first time you healed too quick was it.
I shook my head no.
"This brings me to reason number two." She said. "I want you to join us."
"Who is us." I said.
"You don't know any of them."
"Try me."
"Ivy?"
"You mean Erin?" I said, referring to one of my nurses who treated me so bad I left the hospital unwell.
"Yea, but she's known as Ivy to us."
"Why?" I asked.
"There's much you don't know Caroline."
"Well Erin hates me so."
She shook her head and smiled.
"Ill give you time to think." She said, hopping onto the window ledge. Before she disappeared, she said "We can teach you how to use them."
"Use what?"
"The powers he gave you." She said and she was gone.
Powers? I must still be dreaming.
