Gotham City
Caroline's Apartment
Friday Oct 31 8:50 p.mNicole Brisk
"Caroline come oonn!" My voice traveled through the apartment as I laced up my turf cleats and flattened my Jersey. I was dressed as a soccer player, though soccer isn't at all popular in this city, I enjoyed to watch it before I moved here from Brazil, mainly for the players looks because I'm not very sporty. I made sure my thick, brown curly braids were tight at the bottom.
"I'm not coming!" I heard her pout.
"Caroline Moone I will drag you to this party if I have to." I said, already out the door.
She rounded the corner fidgeting with her fishnet stockings and looked up at me.
"Okay now I don't want to go." I admitted, she was dressed in all black-- shirt, skirt and stockings, dark red flats. Her hair was straight, her eyeshadow a dark grey and eyeliner winged out in black. She had a red jewel in the shape of a drop under her eye, lips red.
"Okay good I'll put my pj's back on the popcorn is already in the nicrowave you just have to set it for two minutes..." She dashed away.
"Caroline come back." I demanded. "You look great and you need to get out more!"
She laughed and blushed. "You act like all I do is watch movies and read books."
My eyes traveled to her bookcase, filled. "I'm not gonna answer that."
She too looked at the bookcase and I couldn't tell what she was thinking, but the smiled slightly and basically pushed me out the door.
Gotham City, Underground 9:00 p.m
Caroline
We walked in, slightly wet from the drizzle outside. Nicole exhaled, we ran three blocks.
I gulped at the sight of it, there were so many people, older, the place was lit and decorated for the holiday but the walls and floor were plain cement, a grey color that made the place seem smaller. It was dark and loud.
Everybody turned to look at us, especially a tall blonde by the bar, she was surrounded by other girls, probably in their early twenties.
The tall one pointed to Nicole and laughed, whispering to her friends. Nicole crossed her legs awkwardly.
I noticed their costumes for the first time, they all were wearing black leotards but seemed to be dressed as different animals-- one had a cheetah printed headband and leg warmers, another had a collar on with floppy dog ears, another had a fluffy tail and tall white bunny ears, and the rude tall one had a beanie on with a penguin on it.
"Come on Nikki." I said, though I didn't know where I was going.
"Caroline can we go home." She said, but I wasn't leaving now.
"Relax, you like this song." I said, we were now in the middle of the dancing.
"My costume is stupid." She said, arms crossed.
"Stop acting like your twelve Nicole you're letting those girls win."
"Fine but--" She was stopped by a tan, muscular guy. Her eyes widened.
"Sorry." He said with an accent. "Hey you're pretty."
She blushed, I couldn't help but to laugh quietly.
She still wasn't talking.
"Hablas espanol?" He said, furrowing his brow.
"She speaks English." I said. "Her name is Nicole. Have fun." I said and Nicky's eyes widened before I walked away.

I really didn't want to do it.
But I had no other choice.
I used my key to get in, setting the milk gallon for Cat on the table.
I walked into the bedroom, on top of the smooth wooden nightstand was the box.
I looked for the small, detailed golden key on my latch.
The key is not there.
I checked the pockets of my worn leather jacket, not there.
I put my hands on the perfect box, and without another choice I picked up the whole thing, unzipped my jacket placing it in, I rezipped and left the apartment without looking back.

I sat alone at a table for two, drinking what I prayed was only root beer.
You never know in this city.
I picked at my red nail polish, a habit I have.
I jumped a little when someone sat in the seat in front of me.
I looked up slowly.
He looked right into my eyes, said nothing.
He had on a black mask, his brown eyes sparkled and they reminded me of Zayn, mysterious. But his were warm, Zayn's ice cold.
"What are you supposed to be?" I said softly, unafraid of him, even dressed in all plain black.
He smiled to the right side slightly.
After a moment he said, "You tell me, vampire."
"Uhh, stranger of whom I don't know the name of?"
"I won't tell you." He said serious.
"Why?"
"Cuz."
"Fine." I said. I took my root beer and went to find Nicole.
9:59 p.m.
Caroline
"Excuse me." I said to all the dancing people in crowds.
Nicole and him weren't where I left them, my heart sunk a little.
I looked everywhere, even the bathroom, the bar.
10:50 p.m.
Caroline
An hour of searching for my best friend. Nowhere. I shouldn't have trusted that filthy foreign guy with her, he knows how to play a girl I bet.
Angry now I left the Underground and into the street.
"NICKY!" I called over and over. All I heard was the shuffling noise of the city streets.
Suddenly, a shadow appeared, dimly under a lamppost a block ahead.
Two shadows. Hugging? No.....
"NICKY!!?" The figure places his hand over her mouth, probably blocking her airways and stifling her screams.
I'm running in the wet streets now, closer and closer the shadows get..
No, my heart is pounding he has a weapon. Please no someone please I'm sprinting to my friend in the Gotham street I must be crazy...
I quickly stopped like a dear headlights, I'm blinded by the light of a large object...
Truck.
Light.
Ringing.
Dark.
Spinning.
Pain.
Boy.
Wings.
Blank.
