I just stood there.
"You coming?" He motioned in.
Honestly, my head hurt and I wasn't planning on going anywhere.
"You don't have to do this." I said.
"No we need to find Nicole!" He said sweetly.
I nodded and sighed, slowly following him through the dark hallway.
I felt like as we walked the cement walls were caving in, the only faint dark-blue light coming from the open door behind us.
And then there was bang. I jumped and Zayn's hand gripped my arm tight.
The door behind us was closed.
"It must have been the wind." He said in the dark.
"It wasn't windy." I said quietly. "You think someone closed it?"
"We're fine." He said. "Lets keep going."
My eyes adjusted to the dark. I followed closely behind him for a while.
"Stairs." He said, and I looked at the old staircase in front of us. They looked totally unstable and why are they moving in circles...?
Zayn
"Carol!" I said and immediately hoped she didn't hear me call her that. She was sprawled on the floor, grabbing her head.
With no other choice I lifted her up and carried her up the stairs, her looking into my eyes for a moment and then slowly closed.
When we reached the top there was complete darkness. I then saw a dim green light down a hallway to the left.
Trying to quickly decide where to go, my thoughts were interrupted by loud footsteps. Turning around I saw a dark hooded figure and I ran down that hallway.
"Caroline get up. Please you need to wake up someone's coming." I whispered, and I didn't have a free hand to wipe the drip of sweat on my forehead.
We got to the door with the green light, I could now see it displayed "Enter." Sounds self-explanatory but I wasn't ready to go in with her passed out.
"Come on girl." I tried, her eyes flashed open.
"Hey." She said softly. "Where are w--" we were interrupted when someone ripped her out of my arms and pushed us both on the floor just outside the door.
"Hey what are you doing?" I said angrily, someone grabbed my arms and tied them back while someone else covered my mouth with a black cloth.
"Stop!" Caroline said, struggling to be free.
The two people in black carried us by our wrists into the room and I felt tired and confused. The cloth over my mouth and nose smelled so strongly of something like alcohol that I felt intoxicated.
We were thrown into a corner, I heard Caroline trying to kick and scream.
The walls behind me were dirty cement and all I could remember was darkness and a single wall that was dimly lighted with black and white pictures hanging on strings like clothes that are drying. I passed out before I could see what the pictures were of.
10:00 p.m.
Caroline
My eyes slowly focused into vision.
Dark room, cement walls.
I could feel my hands were free and the cloth was no longer on my face. I looked down at myself and winced. There was a gash down my thigh to my ankle with ruby red blood trickling onto the floor. Another cut was on my left wrist that I could barely look at. My hands traced my cheeks, stinging when coming in contact. When I looked back down at my hands I started to shake-- covered in darker blood.
My mind was so confused. All I could remember was two people in black hoodies and..
Zayn. Where did he go? Please god let him be alive.. But I barely feel alive myself..
My head hurts again. And everything else. What happened to me and how long have I been here? I just want to cry because I'm hurting and I'm alone, but I won't cry, and am I alone?
I want to get out of here because the walls feel like they're closing in but I'm afraid to stand up.
I then catch my eye on something on the wall to the right of me. It was dimly lit with candles. There were black and white pictures clipped onto from thin strings attached on two sides of the ceiling so that they hung like clothes on a clothing line.
I bit my lip hard so I wouldn't cry or scream when I stood up. My legs felt like they were going to collapse. I had never felt so much pain in my life. I basically dragged my leg to the area with the pictures.
I studied them for a moment, confused at first to what they are because they were so zoomed in.
The first line of pictures was someone's curly black hair, then a side profile of a girl with perfect tan skin, then what I guessed was the same girls hands, and a couple other pictures. Each picture had a thin red X on them.
On the next line I recognised lips, eyes with glittery shadow, a nose with freckles. They all looked too familiar. There weren't any X's on these photos.
I slowly backed away.
Curly hair, dark skin, red X.
Red lipstick, glitter eyeshadow, freckles.
The pictures are of Nicole and me.
