-Liam: Hey
-Liam: Are you home?
-Liam: Are you okay?
-Liam: Are you mad at me?
For some reason I didn't feel like answering him.
I didn't feel like talking to anyone.
My fridge had basically nothing in it so I decided to go to the store.
City streets
To me, Gotham's appearance gets worse every day. The old buildings seemed to be crumbling to bits, the sky seemed to only be this grey and gloomy in this part of New York. It has been said that as soon as you cross the bridge to Long Island the sky turned a miraculous shade of blue.
"Excuse me miss, could you spare a few dollars for a piece of bread?" A pretty normal question to be asked on the streets. The man looked up at me, his face dirt-stricken and his worn out outfit. He looked cold.
"I only have three spare dollars." I held out the money. It was true, I only took ten and I needed to buy milk and some fruit.
He snatched the bills out of my hands. "I have a family to feed! Give me your coat."
I gulped. I clutched my silk navy trench and shook my head. "Sorry." And I started to walk away, my steps hesitant but quick.
"Hey! You greedy girl!" I heard him struggle to stand up.
"I need it! Please leave me alone!"
He grabbed my hood, choking me backward. I remember the wet puddles on the concrete under me, him trying to undo my buttons.
"Help!" I struggled, I tried to pry his dirty fingers off of me.
"Need. It." He mumbled. This man is insane.
As we wrestled, I heard another set of footsteps. Two homeless men against one. He wore a dirty hat and had greasy hair hidden under. He was a teenager, his hazel eyes looked at me and I could have sworn they looked familiar.
He took my hands and dragged me in the wet concrete. I attempted to pinch him, his grip was too hard.
I was pulled down an alley between two brick buildings.
The boy continued to hold me down while the man paced slowly.
"Where is it Caroline." He said. How did he know my name.
"Get your filthy hands off me!" I yelled in frustration.
"Tell me." He said.
"I have no idea what you're talking about!"
"I NEED IT! I HAVE A FAMILY! NEED. IT." His eyes were crazy. They moved unnaturally, up, down, left, right, it was completely distracting. I was following his eyes. I started to feel drowsy.
"Goooood girl. Follow my eyes. Tell me where it is."
I was feeling myself doze when I was suddenly startled. I gasped, I had been scooped off the floor in less than a second, and I was now dangling from someones arms.
My heart skipped. It was him. The one in the black armor, only his mouth showing. Those big lips....
I was jerked left and right in his arms as he swung, first knocking out the man and then the boy.
"Stay with me. Look at me." He said, I think he was running. His appearance morphed in and out, hillucination I assumed. I tried to shake it off and just focus on him.
"I knew this would happen." His voice was deep and mechanical.
