Chapter 76

Chapter 76:

I was at the emergency room, getting treatment for my arm, I got stitched and a cast, they said not to move around for a couple of weeks or it might open up again,

"Are you insane?!" Draken said as he arrived at the emergency room, completely pissed at me.

"Yo, Kenny!" I greeted Draken casually as if nothing happened,

"Why do you always get yourself into trouble when I'm not around?!" He told me, 

"Mikey used to say the same thing back then," I told him as I hopped off of the bed, 

"Mikey this, Mikey that, why can't you understand that he doesn't want to be with us?" He told me, 

"You know Mikey as much as I do, are you even sure that's what he wanted? Or is that something he had to do?" I told Draken, "I knew deep down you haven't given up on him too"

"I tried everything I could," Draken said, 

"Well, I haven't," I told him, "I'm not doing this for me, I'm doing this for Mikey, I know him when he's by himself his dark thoughts got the best of him, he needs someone with him"

"Do what you want," Draken told me, completely fed up with my shit, "I'm going to look after your kids while you sort out all of this crazy nonsense, I don't want them getting involved with your issues with Mikey,"

"You're mad, but you know deep down you know I'm right," I told him, 

"I can't blame him for losing his way, he lost every single one of his siblings, we weren't enough to save him," Draken told me, he then handed me his jacket and placed it over my shoulder. "but as I said, I did everything I could, everyone in Toman did, it's time to move on, think about your children"

"I guess you're right," I told him as we were heading to the parking lot,

"Mikey left because he knew he couldn't suppress his dark impulses, he did it to protect us, to protect you and your family. I'm pretty sure he wanted you to enjoy your life" Draken said,

"Mikey did this for us to be happy, huh?" I mumbled to myself.

I understood what Draken was saying, I knew he was right, and I know for a fact that leaving us so he could protect us is something Mikey would do. Mikey never thought about himself, he would always think about others before everything else.

But I feel bad and sad for him, if he's too busy thinking about others, who would think about him?

"Draken, let's go or we'll be late for the rehearsals!" I said as I entered Draken's bike shop. We were on our way to Takemichi and Hina's wedding reception rehearsals but Draken was still busy tweaking his bike.

"Let me change first," Draken said as he was wiping his greasy hands in a towel, "You look great, the cast really adds variety," He said, complimenting my dress, kind of?

"I prefer a hoodie and sweats," I said.

"Remember what the doctor said, no moving around," He said as he headed to the backroom to change.

He then went back in a plain black button-down shirt.

"Not bad, Ryuguji Ken," I told him as I tossed him the keys to my bike.

We then headed to the restaurant where the rehearsals were being held, it wasn't that far from Draken's bike shop.

Fast forward to after the rehearsals, we were done with the flow of the event now it's time to eat. I was sitting beside Draken at a round table with Chifuyu, Mitsuya, Hakkai, Yuzuha, Inui, and Kazutora. Ryuuji, Ryuuji's wife, Smiley, Angry, Pah, Pah's wife, and Peh were at the table next to us.

"Their wedding is in like 3 days, but Takemichi-kun looks spaced out" I pointed out as I watched Hina and Takemichi socialize with their sponsors.

"He's probably nervous," Chifuyu said.

"So isn't no one going to ask why Akaza-chan is wearing a cast?" Hakkai pointed out, confused and distracted.

I noticed Draken glared at Ryuuji, but Ryuuji quickly avoided eye contact and pretended he was busy with his phone. I couldn't help but laugh at the two of them.

"This idiot got fell off her bike" Draken lied.

"What?" I was confused for a moment then I understood what Draken was doing, he doesn't want them to know I got involved with Bonten. "Right, yes! I fell off my bike on my way home"

"That's odd, You've been riding a bike since you were 9," Mitsuya pointed out.

"I was groggy from my sleeping pills" I lied.

One lie after the other, if this keeps up, our story is going to fall apart soon, someone please change the subject already! I then lowkey elbowed Draken signaling him to do something, but it seemed like he didn't understand.

I glared at him then he realized what I meant.

"Oh!" He finally came to a realization, "I taught Jichiro how to ride a bicycle yesterday, that's the start, next thing he'll be riding all over the city like when we were kids"

"Wait! That's supposed to be the job of the parent!" I told Draken,

"Yeah, but you're always busy and business was slow yesterday," Draken told me, "I raised him too, I think I'm qualified to teach him"

"You could have at least waited for me!" I told him, "I missed another milestone of my child's life!" I whined childishly.

"Don't worry, I documented the whole thing," Draken said as he brought out his phone and showed me pictures.

"You two are like a married couple" Yuzuha pointed out, "Why don't you two just get together?"

"Because I'm married?" I told her,

"She's right though, you two have known each other for more than a decade," Mitsuya continued,

"You two should give it a shot, I think it will work out," Kazutora told us,

"Emma has been gone for more than a decade, and Mikey is nowhere to be found for years, don't you think it's about time to start seeing other people?" Pah added.

"Me and Draken? That's like oil and water, we don't mix well," I told them,

"Besides, she's a pain in the ass to look after, she's even more of a handful than Jichiro and Anri" Draken stated,

"Hey!" I retorted,

"Well, it's just a suggestion, but think about it, it could be good for both of you and your children" Yuzuha stated,

That was an awkward conversation with everyone,

After the rehearsal dinner, Draken drove me home and helped me get my children ready for bed, he does this every time he's over at my place, I appreciate the help. Anri sometimes gets really pissed off and wouldn't settle down.

After changing the children in their pajamas and tucking them in bed. Draken and I headed to the living room, I went to the kitchen and prepared coffee.

I then handed him a cup of coffee and sat down beside him on the couch.

"I really appreciate all your help," I told Draken, "I also really want to thank you for what you said at the hospital the other day, it made me realize a lot of things"

"And what would that be?" He asked me,

"Prioritizing my children," I told him, "I took a few months off so I could focus on them but I ended wasting my time looking for their father,"

"Finally ready to move on, huh?"  Draken said, laughing.

"Want to try their suggestion out?" I was actually joking but he seemed to take it seriously, he placed his hand on my chin and made face him, he slowly leaned in closer to me and so did I.

I wonder if this would work out.
