A step closer to the real world
Our life is a never-ending walk. A journey that each one of us takes. This journey that we have creates different paths for all of us. There are different people that we will meet along the way and people that will be apart from us to be able to continue the path we have.
As a teenager that just turned 18, many adjustments showed as I open my eyes and woke up a bit older. It seems like I have to take another route because another road opened for me that I should take. At this age, I will also have to take another step towards reality and that is college life.
College is another level of education that I will take after senior high school. As I finish senior high school, I have to think about a lot of things. You'll feel happy after finishing senior high school level but then, a new challenge awaits. A bigger burden will be on your shoulders after conquering the other.
Your mind will be filled with thoughts, questions, and different concerns.
What will be the next step?
What course should I take in college?
Will my senior high school strand help me in conquering college?
Should I pick a course that will be my dream or the course that offers a lot of jobs in the future?
In which university should I try and go? Will I pass their entrance exam?
But thinking about these thoughts, not everyone is lucky to have a choice. Not everyone is given a chance to take what path they want to take. There are a lot of circumstances along the way that might be a hindrance to the road towards college life.
My parents told me how important education is. They made me realize how society works as they open my eyes a bit bigger than how other parents teach their children. But still, I am thankful that I'm able to witness the things that now helps me to adjust easier with what's going on with my life.
If the road towards college isn't open for you, maybe another path is there for you to walk in. Maybe you can still wander a bit before choosing another road to take.
Not walking towards the road you think is your destination doesn't mean it's the end for you. It's not a dead end, it's just closed for now so you have to find a way. Find another road that will bring you to your destination even if it takes longer than how you expect them to be.
Life isn't a race. You can achieve things using your own pace. You can have your rest on a stop-over. You can let other people take the lead while you walk with ease.
Don't let them underestimate you just because they are a step closer to their destination. Walk with ease and bring the things you learn along the way. You have a lot of experiences that will help you when you reach your destination. Unlike the others that rushed towards their destination and struggled later.
You are doing a good job. Continue walking until you reach your goal and smile proudly because you made it.
