Once I arrived in London, Caitlin picked me up from the airport. I had already arranged for an apartment near where Caitlin, and her girlfriend and fellow Arsenal teammate, Lia, live. Lia and Caitlin got together at the start of the year in Lockdown. They are too cute. Lia, a fellow defender, probably has the sweetest heart. As the captain of the Swiss national team, she is very experienced and I will learn a lot from her.

"Indi," Lia said in a Swiss accent, "So happy to meet you!" She gets out of the car at the airport and gives me a huge hug. Already, I know, she is going to be an absolute teddy bear!
"Lia, stop hogging the newbie," Caitlin said in the familiar Aussie accent I know and love. Being one of the only Australians in the NWSL was hard and, in a way, I lost my connection with the Aussie tang. I missed it. Caitlin came over and gave me a huge hug and we reunited after so long. Caitlin also debuted for the Matilda's at a young age, so I can relate to her and her experiences. She and Sammi both guided me throughout my first couple of years as a Matilda, as I debuted when I was only 15 years old.
"I missed you Caity!" I said to her.
"Missed you more my Windy Indi." Only Cait and the Matildas call me "Windy Indi". It's one of those names that just is created and you have no idea how it came about.
"Let's put your new address in the Nav and get you settled in," Cait said as we hopped into the car and drove out of Heathrow airport.

It took me a couple of days for my furniture to arrive and for other necessities, such as water, and power to be sorted. Although,I got there in the end.

I got a message from Sammi.

Sam: Yo, Windy Indi

Indi: Yes, Sammi Pammy

Sam: Ready for drinks?

Indi: Of course.

Sam: Come over. Bring Cait

I messaged Cait to tell her that Sammi wants to have drinks, and she graciously accepted, citing that only if Sam buys. Due to covid, and the restrictions on the League, and trying to stay out of the public as much as possible, Sammi and I decided against a bar and thought it easiest just to go to her apartment.

Cait and I arrived at her place, and when we opened up, we were greeted by the one and only Samantha Kerr.

"Sammi!" I screamed, flying into her arms. I hadn't seen my Matilda's captain in nearly nine months and missed her dearly. Sam and I are really close, similar to Cait and me. She is a mentor to me and pathed the way for me in the NSWL. She is also the best person to have a good time with.
"Windy Indi!" SHe screamed back, hugging me tightly back. Cait and I hustled into the apartment, trying to get out of the September breeze.

Once we had regrouped and got drinks. Each of us explained the interesting things in our lives. Sam had some unknown news, her and Nikki, her long term girlfriend, had broken up.
"Yeah, Nikki and I broke up," She said, getting a little emotional. This was news to both me and Caitlin, and I think most people. "It happened a couple of weeks ago, and honestly, I haven't told anyone yet."
"Oh Sammi, I am so sorry," I said, moving my chair closer to her, and giving her a hug.
"Honestly, I fell out of love in a sense. I thought I would spend forever with her, but she changed or maybe I changed. I am not sure."
"I think that life," I started to say, "People change, people move on. Life happens, careers happen. Nikki was a huge part of your life, but now, you have time to focus on yourself, and find yourself again, without her."
"How are you so smart, yet never have had a relationship?" Sam replied. Cait and I started to laugh, SAmmi too.
"Luck of the trade I guess."

We drank a little more, and just started to chat about people, and lives.
"Well, Rachel Daly and Kristie Mewis broke up." I said, as the conversation started to slow.
"Really?" Sam said, eyes looking awake again.
"Yeah. Only recently, but still. So unexpected."
"Weren't you quite close with both of them?" Cait asked me.
"Yeah, I was, I am." I corrected myself.
"I have to say, Kristie is so hot." Sam said, very drunk.
"Got a crush?" I asked her.
"No, not yet at least." She replied. I left it at that, not wanting to overstep only recently after her break up.

Cait and I, both having drunk far too much, made Lia come pick us up and drop us both home. It was great seeing Sammi again, only sad as she plays for the rival... Chelsea!
