We arrived back in London the following morning, and had to get back to the training center for some media shots and videos. Media day is always fun, and since we are about halfway through the season, they need some more content. They asked who wanted to film an episode of 'What Do You Know', which is an Arsenal series.
"Jill and Indi should do it," Katie perked up, with her Irish accent, "They are quite the competitive bunch." I looked at Jill.
"Well, Inds, guess you're gonna be a loser," as Jill said this, her Dutch accent was very obvious.
"Mate," I said, my Aussie slang peaking through, "You're speaking to the wrong chick."
We went to sit down at the two chairs in front of the big camera. We were both talking smack to each other trying to put the other off so we would win.
The camera man gave us the thumbs up when it was ready to go.
"Hi, I'm Jill Roord."
"And I'm India Harrison, and this is 'What do you know.'"
The first question was to name as many players from the 2019 world cup from your respective teams. Although I did go to the World Cup, and the Matilda's played fairly decently, Jill made it to the final with the Netherlands so she will probably beat me.
We started to name players. I named players such as Sam, Hayley, Steph, and Caitlin. Jill named herself, Viv, Sari, and Daan. By the time we had both named as many as possible, I had two strikes and Jill had one.
"Ok," the cameraman said, "India, you are missing one." I am trying to rack my brain of who I missed. Jill was laughing, like she knew.
"Do you know who I missed?" I asked her suspiciously. She nodded her head, laughing again.
"Oh my word, I cannot think!" I said, placing my hand on her head and leaning into my lap.
"5, 4," Jill started to say.
"Have I said me?" I asked. Jill shook her head, knowing that I had now won.
"India got all of her team first, one point," the camera man said. I was smiling, hard, and looked at Jill with a winner's grin.
The next question was to name the current Arsenal team with training partners.
"Now this is unfair, she has been here way longer than I have," I retorted, knowing she would win this round, and she did.
"Good job Jilly," I said reluctantly.
Final question was the name as many countries in Oceania and the Americas. I knew I had this one down pact, not only because I am Australian, and Australia is in Oceania, but I love geography.
"Australia," I started.
"New Zealand," She continued.
"Let's do one continent at a time, so we don't miss any," I suggested and Jill nodded.
I named the island nations such as Marshall Islands, Palau and Solomon Islands, whereas I gave her the easy ones such as Fiji, Vanuatu and Samoa. We continued to South America, where by that stage, Jill had already one wrong answer.
"I have no idea," she said, as we reached the Caribbean.
"I have a couple," I replied, knowing I would win, so a grin beamed across my face.
"I'm out," she stated.
"The aussie for the win!" I shouted to Caitlin. You could hear the cheers in the background. "Good game though," I said to Jill, reaching my hand out.
We did the closing.
"I'm Jill Roord."
"And I'm India Harrison, and this was 'What do you know.'"
We had some more media content to do such as photoshoots and videos for adverts and promotions. We finished the day around 3, and were on international break. International break is always fun as we are able to meet up with our home team and play some international friendlies or qualifiers against other nations. The Matilda's are set to play Spain and Portugal in those respective countries. There is an organised team camp set for the week, in Spain.
The following day I said goodbye to Jill as I headed to camp. I would miss her, even though it was only two weeks. I think I had become so accustomed to her face and her smile and her presence. I gave her a huge hug and nuzzled my head into her shoulders. I went to her apartment before leaving to pick up Sam and Caitlin. I kissed her softly on the lips, tasting the sweet smell of her lip balm for the last time. I jumped up on her and wrapped my legs around her waist, not wanting to let go.
"It's only two weeks," she proclaimed, knowing I didn't want to go.
"I'm still going to miss you," I replied, gripping her neck tightly around my arms. I kissed her neck slightly, not wanting to let go. She took me over to the couch and sat down. I was on top of her, placing my lips on her neck. She grabbed my face, and pressed her forehead against mine. I look over to the clock and it's already 9:30am and I have to pick up Caitlin and Sam by 9:45.
"Jill," I said, in between kisses, "I have to go." She wouldn't let go and I wouldn't let her. I'll miss the comfort she gave me, and security. I hopped off her lap, quickly, so I wouldn't regret my decision, gave her another kiss and left her apartment. I'd miss her, obviously, but two weeks isn't long - right?
