*I've decided to change Shirayuri's appearance a bit. She's going to have the same black as Lykaia and is going to a little more tanned then her.*
The sun was shining bright, it was a beautiful day in Bones Burrow. Eda, Luz, King and myself were at a playground along with several baby-track witchlings. Luz was acting like an overly concerned parent, more so than me. "What if he gets hurt? What if the kids are mean to him? My maternal instincts are freaking out! Kaia, is this how you feel most of the time?" Eda waved of her concern. "He's fine. Look at him." I chuckled. "Not always, Luz." We looked at King, who was trying to climb on the slide. "It does look like he's having fun." Luz said and I nodded. "Yes, it does." Luz cooed at him. "Aw, I wonder what cute little game he's playing."
"Stand back, cretins. Yes! Yes, this is a throne worthy of a tyrant. Bow to me you snotty underlings. Bow!" King ordered as he stood atop the slide. The young witchlings simply shared a look and did their own thing. "Yes, appease your master." Another witchling came behind him. "This isn't for standing, it's for sliding. You try." The infant shoved King down the slide. King grunted and run up to us. "Kaia, that monster took my throne!" I quirked a brow at him. "You mean the infant?" King pouted. "No, the usurper. I want to go over there and blow him up. Kaboom!" The 'usurping' baby was riding a playground toy. "Kaboom!" Monarch shimmered into existence next to me and Eda unscrewed Owlbert from the staff. "Yeah, we're not using Owlbert or Monarch to blow-up a baby." Owlbert hooted and Monarch squeaked. Luz looked at our Palisman in awe. "Wow, they're amazing. Where did you get them?" We gave her a look. "Get them? We made them from the branches of ancient tree." I nodded. "A palistrom tree to be exact. Monarch and Owlbert are Palisman and they are bound to us for life. Palismen serves as a witch's familiar. It can prove to be both a loyal friend and a powerful tool, among other possible functions." I explained while stroking Monarch with finger gently. Luz looked at me in awe. "Wow." Then she noticed a little symbol on Owlbert's foot. "Hey, what's that?" She asked. "That's his interlock. So he only fits on my staff. Almost every Palisman has one." Eda explained. Luz looked at Monarch and I chuckled. "Monarch doesn't have an typical interlock, exactly. You see this crystal orb; Monarch slides in this for lack of a better explanation." Luz titled her head to the side. "How so?" "Monarch wasn't always a butterfly, when I first made him, he was a cocoon. This crystal orb is how he was formed." I said while showing the crystal ball that Monarch sat on.
That's when I noticed that Eda was spaced out. "Eda? Are you alright?" I asked, placing a hand on her shoulder. I nearly winced when I felt the dark magic of the curse run through her. "Eda!" Eda shuddered. "What? Oh, no. The curse. We have to get home. Now!" King was standing on top of the jungle gym. "Five more minutes, please!" "King!" King pouted. "Ah, man, this isn't over." The other baby just smiled and hugged King. "Okay, let's play again real soon." King struggled to get out the hug. "No! Keep those sticky hands away! No! He's touching me!"
At the Owl House.
We rushed through the door and Eda tossed Owlbert onto the couch. I gave her a look. "Edalyn, what have I told you about tossing your staff like that." Eda pouted. "Um, not to?" I sighed and shook my head while Luz looked worried. "Luz, will you please go get Eda's elixir?." She nodded and was about to run up the stairs but Eda waved her off. "Don't worry about it, you two. I'll get it myself in a bit." "Eda, I could stay home and keep an eye on you. I'm sure Bump would understand." Eda lifted her head to look at me. "No, go, I'll be fine. I've had this curse for nearly 30 years." Luz looked confused. "How did you get cursed anyway?" Eda and I looked at each other. "I don't know." "You don't know?" Luz asked incredulously. Eda looked a little uncomfortable. "Somebody gave it to me. I don't know who and I don't care because I'm fine, all right? Anyway, don't you have plans with Tweedledum and Twerpledee and Lykaia, you have a meeting with Bumpykin" Luz nodded. "Well, Willow, Gus, and I are going to the Grudgby game between Hexside and Glandus High." Luz looked towards me. "I still can't believe you're going to teach at Hexside. Have you decided what you're going teach?" I chuckled at her enthusiasm. "I'm going to be teaching healing." Luz frowned. "So, I won't be in your class?" "You will be in healing class if you choose that track." Luz made a sound of understanding. "Anyway, Willow, Gus, and I are going to the Grudgby game between Hexside and Glandus High." Luz explained. Eda gave her a confused look while screwing Owlbert back onto the staff. "Since when are you into sports?" Luz smiled widely. "Since I found a little something called Hexside Pride. To think that Glandus, whoever they are, would dare face us. But if you need me to stay..." Eda rolled her eyes at Luz while groaning. "Gross, sympathy. Go! Go have fun at sport." Luz cheered. "Hooray! Hooray for sport! Hugs and kisses for everyone!"
