Part III - Savor

"My firm in San Francisco needs a paralegal, I believe you would be the perfect candidate," he says when I fell silent. "Are you willing to relocate?"

"I don't believe I'm in a position to turn down your offer, Dean Hanover," I explain.

"That's what I like to hear. I knew I made the right decision offering it to you!" he says enthusiastically.

"I'll have a look at the written offer and get back to you," I say. "I appreciate the opportunity."

"I'm confident you'll make a wise decision." he says. "Enjoy the rest of you evening!"

"Thank you sir, you too!" I say before hanging up.

I rush over to my computer and open my email, and I look over the written offer and go over my terms and benefits.

Several pairs of eyes fell on me as I emerged from my bedroom after reading the paperwork thoroughly.

"Did you die in there?" Lila inquires as she stows her phone.

"Where's Chuck?" As I lean back in my chair, I inquire.

"Taking Mrs. Buford back to bed," Jay says with a chuckle.

"Guess who called?" I inquire, unable to conceal my broad grin.

"Who?" Lana inquires as she places her cards on the table and looks up at me.

Chuck remarks, "Mrs. Buford is one sick bitch," as she walks back into the apartment before I could even respond. "She wanted me to hold her teeth!" She exclaims as she sat back down causing us to cringe.

"Who called you?" Jay inquires impatiently, her gaze returning to me.

"Dean Hanover," I reply. "He offered me a full time position!" I squeal.

"Oh, my god!" Jay exclaims as she enthusiastically puts her arms around my neck.

"Are you kidding?" Lila exclaims, her smile broad.

"No, I'm shaking!" I exclaim. "He faxed over the documents and everything."

"Did you accept?" Chuck asks enthusiastically.

"He gave me two days to think about it," I respond. "But I already signed the papers!"

"I told you everything happens for a reason!" Jay exclaims before kissing my temple. "Fuck the internship, you're getting paid!"

Despite having to move, I was beyond excited for this. My hard work is finally paying off.

My gaze fell on Lana, who smiled brightly, making me blush slightly. She didn't have to say much because the glint in her eyes spoke plenty.

This is going to be hard.

8:23 p.m.

We moved to the living area, where we sprawled out together with drinks and blankets.

I sat at the end of the coach as Lana rested her head on my thigh. I stroked her hair gently as we continued to talk about my potential job.

Trying to avoid the discussion of where the job took place.

"So when are you supposed to go in?" As she surfs Hulu, Jay inquires.

"In a week," I say.

"Wow," Jay exclaims. "That's like so soon"
