Chapter 8

He picked up his phone, seeing a wild mixture of missed calls and happy messages, opening Instagram to look at the recent tags he received. Scrolling over the numerous reposts of their selfie, he found the original post the fan made.

The caption read.

He looked up at her, smiling as she had obviously seen it, too.

"Nice" She smiled "What do we do?"

He thought about it for a second.

"Why don't we share it in the stories... link each other and link her? She is going to love it, and we would make a statement without saying anything?"

"Sounds like a lovely idea" She smiled.

He klicked on the post to share it, added her tag and the girls, and put a heart emoji in the corner.

When she was finished typing, they showed each other their displays, and he had to smile at the Lobster GIF she had decided to add.

They both klicked on "share" simultaneously and looked at each other.

"Didn't hurt at all" he joked "Although I might take that back when there is a bunch of paps camping at the front door tomorrow."

She moved over to sit on his lap, circling her arms around his neck.

"We have everything we need right here" she said "We'll just wait it out."

They kissed, but before they could deepen the kiss, her phone started buzzing in her hand, and when she looked down, she could see Courteney's name flashing on the display, who was trying to facetime her.

She picked up the phone, holding it up so that they would both be on camera, and when Courteney popped up on screen, they could see that Lisa was there, too.

"Hey you two" he said.

"So I take it this was done with your consent since you just shared it?"

"Actually, David asked her to do it after we took that pic." She said.

"Wow, I did not expect that." Courteney replied.

"You know, it was just such a lovely meeting and she was so excited for us, and we just thought: it was only a matter of time until something like this happened, and why don't let a die hard fan have some fun with it instead of someone making money off pics they snapped without our consent?" he explained.

"Okay. I love that. But what are you planning to do now?" Lisa asked.

"Well, we thought us sharing this was enough of a statement. We just shopped everything we need for the next couple of days, so we will just stay here and wait out the craze?!?!" She said.

"Okay, that sounds like fun." Courteney said "I am really happy that you decided to put yourselves out there, most people had figured it out anyway, and honestly Jen? Most of your statements trying to shut down the talking were simply ridiculous."

"Yeah, I know. Especially the brother thing. I saw that thread on Twitter. Had to laugh at it myself."

"Yes. Alright, you probably wanna turn off that phone now..." Courteney said, before Lisa added "We love you guys, take care!!!"

After they greeted their friends goodbye, they decided to take another 15 minutes to see if they received any messages that they felt the need to reply to before actually following their friend's advice.

Somewhere during that time period, he stumbled upon some of the memes people posted on Twitter, and that actually WAS funny, all with a positive and excited undertone though.

When he chuckled at some of them, she scooted over to look at his display, too, and they actually ended up having some fun with the stuff they found.

There was the mandatory: "So happy the break is finally over", as well as a GIF of Rachel Ross and Phoebe jumping up and down in the empty apartment captioned with "#Jenvid confirmed - all if us right now:", a really heartwarming clip of "With us, it's never off the table" captioned with "Life is finally imitating art! #sohappy".

The things he secretly screenshotted where more of the cheeky ones that he wanted to have on his phone to tease her a little later on.

"So #jenniferaniston basically confirmed that she is dating her brother - am I sick because I am grinning from ear to ear now?!?!?" - together with a Phoebe GIF of "My eyes, my eyes"

"Yeah, I kind of should have seen THAT ONE coming" She shrugged, blushing cutely.

The other one he saved was a clip of her telling Jimmy Fallon she was YEARNING for New York - accompanied with "Nice metaphor, Jen - she really was".

He kissed her cheek and told her he loved her again when she hid her face in her hands laughing.

His favorite one though (and he would never delete that) came from Howard Stern: "So Jen, are you proudly admitting you banged Schwimmer now? CONGRATULATIONS 🎊 "

They both had to laugh hard at that one, though, and he could not help but reply:

"THX, talk to you later, Howard 😉".

"My day just got a lot happier after finding out that Jen is SCHWIMMING in L.O.V.EEEEE over in NCY. #happiestdayever" was the next one they picked up on

"AWWW" was all she could say to that.

They looked at each other, decided to leave their research at that, and finally switched off their phones, started a movie on TV that, again, they could not recall the content of after seeing the opening credits....
