"'Cause I see, sparks fly, when you smile
My mind forgets to remind me, your a bad idea
You touch me once and it's really something
You find I'm even better than you, imagined I would be"

Cassiopeia Black very much looked like a Black.
Almost every one in the Nobel and Most Ancient House of Black had the same pale porcelain skin, high cheek bones, and very, very curly hair. It runs in the family. That is why we will find our sweet, sweet Cass straightening her hair. She's done it since she's been sorted, it's her way of showing she doesn't want to be in mold that was formed for her at birth, to be like them.

With her straightening the last curl on her head flat, she is ready to go to the party.

Thankfully when she gets to the Gryffindor common room the door is open. You'd think that you'd be able to hear the music from a mile away, but thank Godrick for silencing spells.

When she enters the common room she tries to find Sirius, she knows all to well the Regulus wouldn't risk coming to a Gryffindor party he needs to keep his "cover" as the other Black siblings call it.

Before Cass can find her brother her favorite red head comes up to her and embraces her in a hug. Cass missed this.

"Lily!" She said not releasing from the hug, "How was your summer? I missed you so much."

"It was okay. It's hard being away from the wizarding world for so long." She says while releasing from the hug.

"Especially at a time like this, how was yours?"

"Well not great, Andy and Ted were always on missions, but I did hang out with my brothers a lot."

"What have I missed over the summer? How much has he risen? I know that the Daily Prophet is a load of rubbish."

"He's definitely gained in numbers I could tell you that." Cass said trying to keep her voice down but still just loud enough for Lily to hear, "I don't get why anyone would join him, even if your being forced there has to be a way out."

Just as Lily was going to respond Marlene McKinnon came up to them.

"Hey guys! Cass are you ready to get your arse beaten in quidditch this year? With Potter as captain I don't think anyone had a chance."

Cass is the captain of the Hufflepuff quidditch team, she's the best keeper they've seen in years.

"Are you ready to get beaten in quidditch this year?" Cass and Marlene are friends, not as good of friends as Cass is with Lily, but when the Marauders and them hang out they always end up talking about quidditch.

" I think we both stand a good chance. Oh Lils can you come with me and get a drink? Oh, and Cass I think someone wants a chat with you." Marlene said pointing behind Cass, and with that the blonde and red head were off to get a drink.

Cass turned around to see James in the corner looking down at his drink. He glanced up to her and they both walks twards each other.

"Hey Cass." James said while they were still a few feet away from each other, "Care for a drink?"

"I'm good," Cass said closeting the 3 foot gap between them, so they were pretty close together, "I'm sure if you're drinking it I'll be hungover till they day I die." Cass glanced at the clear liquid in his cup.

" Wow, I'm hurt!" He said grabbing his chest as if he was in pain, "You don't know me at all!"

"Wow, a great performance," She said laughing, " you really channeled your inner Sirius."

"I really try, but this is water, someone needs to be sober to take care of the three bozos over there."

Cass looked over to see her brother, Peter, and Remus using their wands to catch the plants in the common room on fire, then seeing a very angry Lily Evans storming towards them.

"Good idea."

There was silence, not an awkward one when you are normally left alone with you siblings friends but a comfortable, safe one. The pair was just looking at each other's eyes, that's what friends do though, Cass reassured her self. Right?

And like clockwork just as Cass was going to say something 8 words left James' mouth that Cass didn't want to hear. Cass dreaded these words, did he realize something was up with her on the train? Will he tell Sirius? What will Sirius do?!

"Hey, can I talk to you in private?"

"Yeah James, of course." She pushed out of her mouth, her thoughts of worry consuming her as they left the common room into the corridor outside of Gryffindor tower.

Once they stopped in an empty corridor and James didn't say anything Cass was even more worried. They could hear each other hears pounding.

"Erm, so, uh, I noticed in the train that, erm you were kinda, well I don't know if you were, I mean I could be wrong but, I think you were looking at me." Cass has never heard James Potter jumble up his words or seen him with such lack of confidence, "And I only noticed because, well, I was looking at you too, and maybe I'm wrong and am just going to embarrass myself here but, Cass, I kinda, well-I don't know how to say this so. Erm, well can I show you?" James asked.

Cass is a very smart girl...When it comes to books. In the real world, she doesn't have that much common sense. So of course she had no clue of what James was gonna show her, but you know what they say, curiosity killed the cat.

"Uh sure?"

Not even a second after those two words came out of her mouth, James' lips were on hers. At first she didn't know what he was doing but by the time she kissed back James pulled away to see a very shocked look on Cass face.

"Oh my gosh, I am so sorry Cass I shouldn't have I'm sorry."

Cass was still in shock, she didn't know what to say. James Potter just kissed her! She needed time to think and get over all the excitement of a first kiss, especially one with James Potter.

"It's getting late, I should, uh, head back to the common room and get some sleep, first day of classes tomorrow, erm see you later." Cass said in a rush as she walked away and went straight to her common room. Already regretting walking away.
