"Your gonna have wish you never have met me,
We could of had it all"

"Hey Love! I got your note! What was the meeting with Dumbledore about?" James asked as Cassiopeia walked through the door, seeing James on the couch he always sits on reading, a book Remus recommended him.
"James we need to talk." Cassiopeia said sitting down next to him on the couch.
"Oh I need to talk to you too, I got you a real Christmas gift and a gag one for when you're at my house so do you want the real one now or on Christmas?" James asked.
"James." Cassiopeia said softly.
"Cassiopeia?" He said matching her tone.
"I think we should break up." Cass said not daring to look into his eyes.
James just laughed.
"You're funny, that was a horrible prank though." He laughed, thinking Cassiopeia was joking. Until he looked into her eyes, seeing she was being dead honest.
"Oh." He said lightly.
"Yeah." Cass said tears spilling out of her eyes.
"Was it something I did?" The pain in his voice cut Cassiopeia like a knife.
"No James. It's not you, trust me. It's me."
"Yeah that's what they all say Cassiopeia!" James stood up and started to pace the room angrily. Why was his sweet Cassiopeia doing this?
Cassiopeia had no clue what to say. So she didn't. She didn't say a word.
"Oh so now you aren't gonna actually tell me why you are doing this to me? Is it because of Sirius?" James asked, "Because if it is he can suck it up and get used to it Cassiopeia."
"I don't want to be with you if I have to keep it a secret James. I don't want to love you if it's just going to cause problems with Sirius."
"Love me? Is that why you haven't said it? Because of your brother, Cassiopeia come on! Please we can work this out."
"No James. We can't. I have to do this." Cassiopeia cried.
"You have to break up with me?" He asked.
"Yes." She couldn't lie to him, not now, "I have to James. To keep you safe. To keep you happy. As long as your away from me." Cassiopeia couldn't handle the look at James's face.
"Cassiopeia I don't understand what you mean!" She could see the tears in James's eyes, that made it harder for her.
"Maybe that's a good thing. Maybe it's best you don't understand just yet." She got closer to him, trying to comfort him, if she even could.
"I know I don't understand why you doing this Cassiopeia, but I hope it's for a good reason. I hope this will make you happy, I truly do."
James started to walk out of the room he was not even halfway to the door when Cassiopeia told him one of the most honest things she'd ever say to him.
"It won't make me happy, James. Because there is no one else I would rather love. No one else I would rather dance with in the rain, or wake up to every morning, or never get sick of doing the same things over and over with, if it means I get to be with you. But it will make me happy to know your safe."
"Safe from what Cassiopeia." How could doing this keep him safe James asked himself.
"Safe from me, James. Maybe in another life time this could have worked out, just not this one." Cassiopeia hoped she was lying. But she couldn't tell.
"How could I be in danger when I am with you Cassiopeia? I love you... I love you. I love you. I love you! If you don't want to keep this a secret that's okay, let's tell everyone. I'll tell all the stars in the sky that I love you, and i'll never stop loving if that's what I have to do to keep you."
Why did he have to make this so hard for her?
"You better stop loving me soon then. You better start counting all the stars in the sky James. " This felt like a ton on bricks fell on Cassiopeia's chest.
"How could you do this? How can we even do this? How can I hide my feelings from you when we still have the same friends? And will have to be with each other everyday?"
"You won't have to worry about that James."
"Cassiopeia, I don't know what you are doing. What are you doing for it to be not safe for us to be together. But please, please, please don't do it. "
Cass didn't know what to say.
"What about the note?" James asked after an insufferable silence, " 'Yours forever' that's what it said. What about that?"
"I guess I lied." She said as her heart shattered.
"I'll see you on the other side, Cass." He never called her that, not since they started dating. With that James left.
She sat in the Room of Requirement for god knows how long crying. Crying until she couldn't anymore. She was about to leave when she saw a small wrapped box on the table next to the couch.
James's gift for her.
After minutes of debating wether to open it or not, Cassiopeia did- Cass did, no one will call her Cassiopeia after this- not in the way she'd like to be called.
Inside the box was chain with a ring on it, inside the ring there was an engraved message.
'I'll love you till the day I count all the stars in the sky, Cassiopeia.'
Cass put the necklace around her neck, it felt wrong to do. But so right at the same time. She tucked it under her shirt and made her way to her dorm. It wasn't him, but was as close to her home she could get.
Before she went to mope in bed she wrote a letter to Sirius telling him that she was going to Andromeda's for Christmas because she missed Nymphadora. That's where her web of lies began.
