Harlow
The deadline for my art submission was fast approaching, and I still didn't have anything to submit. Every idea I thought of didn't seem right. Plus, we had our parenting project to complete.
I sat on a bench by the creek, scrolling through my photos. I blew air past my lips as they flapped.
"Issues?" Someone asked in my ear.
I turned my head and came face to face with Aiden as he leaned on the back of a bench. "I still need an art submission."
"I thought you had it figured out?"
"I keep scrolling through pictures, but nothing seems to fit."
Aiden moved around the bench and sat down next to me. "What are the requirements?"
"We have to capture the realism of a person."
"Okay. What else?"
"The person needs to be in a natural state. They can't pose."
"I think I have an idea." Aiden stood up and held out his hand to me.
I looked at him. "What?"
"Come on." He opened and closed his hand.
I took his hand, and he pulled me to my feet and led me to his bike. He climbed on, helped me onto the back, and handed me a helmet. I put the helmet on, then wrapped my arms around his waist. He started his bike and drove to our destination, which was the bike shop.
Aiden dropped his kickstand, turned off his bike, and helped me off the bike. We strolled to the opening.
"You wanted people in their natural states. Who better than our dads?"
I glanced at Aiden and smiled. I snapped a couple of pictures of our dads and Roc standing in the garage and talking. Once I got a few pictures, we snuck away. Yeah, I didn't need my dad questioning me why I was at the shop.
We got onto the bike, and Aiden drove until we arrived at my house. We went into the house and headed to my bedroom. I grabbed my sketch pad and sat down on my bed. Aiden laid across my bed as I sketched using the pictures for reference.
It took a couple of hours as I drew, shaded, and colored the sketch. I finished, happy with the results. "Do you want to see?"
"Yeah." Aiden changed positions and sat next to me.
I handed him the sketch.
He studied it. "You did an excellent job of capturing them."
"Do you think the art committee will like it?"
"They would be fools not to like it." Aiden glanced at me.
My lips curved upward as I took the sketch pad from him. I removed the sheet, placed it in an envelope, and wrote on the envelope. I turned to face Aiden as he stood in front of me. "Thanks."
"For what?"
"For helping me."
Aiden pulled me to him and pressed his lips to mine. I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed him back. Every time Aiden kissed me, my heart fluttered.
We broke from our kiss and placed our foreheads together.
"I think I'm falling for you," I whispered.
Aiden gazed into my eyes. "Good because I already fell for you."
I stared at Aiden with my mouth agape.
