Aiden
Harlow and I hung out while working on our parenting assignment. I also helped her with her art submission. She tried to draw me while I flipped through a book. Please don't assume that it's my fault I got bored waiting for her to finish. Plus, Dad will kill me when he finds out I snagged The Count of Monte Christo.
"Okay, I think I captured your features."
I saved my spot and set my book down, then glanced at the tablet. "I look like a troll."
"Well, you do have troll-like qualities."
I gave Harlow a look and shook my head. "Try again." I picked up my book and started reading.
Harlow groaned. Hey, if you capture my essence, then do it right. Don't make me look like a damn troll.
Harlow lowered the tablet. "I can't do this. All my drawings are horrible." She threw her head back.
I closed my book and set it aside. "Let me see." I took the tablet from her. Harlow raised her head. I erased the current drawing and started sketching as she watched me. "You start with a faint outline. It gives you a guideline. Then as you add definition, you erase the other lines."
"Where did you learn to sketch?"
"I read a book about sketching, and it showed diagrams. Then I practiced from it."
"You read a lot, don't you?"
I focused on the sketch. "Yeah, my mom said that my dad would read to me as an infant. Every night he would sit in a rocking chair and read to me. It didn't matter the book. He wanted me to love you read."
"My dad would sketch to relax at night."
I glanced at Harlow.
"He said that it the one thing he could enjoy without the hassle."
"I didn't know your dad sketched."
"Not many people do. I asked why he didn't pursue it. He told me that he preferred working on bikes over the school."
"Not everyone enjoys school. I find it boring."
"Is that why you skipped?"
"Yeah, but my parents want me to graduate. Dad did, and Mom was a teen mom. Dad worked nights so that Mom could graduate. He didn't think it was right that she didn't because he knocked her up."
"Doesn't it concern you that there's a chance a girl could get pregnant?"
"No, because I wrapped my shit."
"Every time?"
"Yep. I don't need a billion kids running loose."
I snickered.
"Plus, the women and girls that hopped on my dick, we're looking for one thing. It's not like they wanted more."
"That's so sad."
"Why?"
"Sex without love is empty."
"Not if it's all that you're looking for. People make the mistake of making sex emotional. If a girl sleeps with a guy, then she's expected to fall in love. But what if the girl wants sex without the attachment."
"You call girls a hoe."
"True, but hoes will hop on any dick without a second thought."
"And me?"
"And you what?"
"Am I hoe?"
I set the tablet aside and pulled Harlow into a kiss. I captured her lips and deepened the kiss, then pulled back. "You're not a hoe, but special."
