Aiden
Harlow and I managed to survive the first four weeks of parenting class without killing each other. After our excursion to the cabin, things got better between us. Well, if you consider bickering better, then sure.
Our parents endured our quality time together if you want to call it that. The fifth week came with the pregnancy belly, which Harlow had to wear. I laughed because it was funny as hell. She didn't.
We came into my house while she was wearing the belly. Dad cocked his head and squinted his eyes.
"It's the fifth month. So, Harlow has to wear the belly for four weeks." I smiled.
Harlow didn't.
"That's an interesting look."
"The teacher wanted us to get a feel for pregnancy before handing a doll to us," Harlow said.
"And how does sex fit into the equation?"
Harlow glanced at me. "I was out of my mind when Aiden knocked me up. It surprises me with how bad his aim is." She smirked.
I didn't. Dad snickered. I shook my head as Harlow followed me up to my room. As soon as we entered my room, I shut the door. Harlow removed the belly.
"It's not that I don't enjoy feeling like a house, but I don't."
I removed my coat and tossed it on a chair. "Why do teachers need to make a grandstand? Wrap your shit, and you won't deal with pregnancy."
"I'm glad that I'm still pure as the driven snow. It's less complicated."
I sat down on my bed as Harlow checked out my room.
"So, have you made inroads with that girl?"
"It's a work in progress. Why?"
"Oh, no reason. I figure the girl has your attention preoccupied." Harlow fidgeted while looking at things in my room.
"You seem interested in my personal life. Why?"
"Can't friends be interested in their friend's personal life?"
I stood up and crept towards Harlow as she looked at a picture on my wall. "Is that what we are? Friends?"
"Well, we talk."
"We argue."
"We still talk."
"And we still argue." I stood behind Harlow.
Harlow turned around as I stood in front of her. "I thought you were sitting on the bed."
"I was. Now, I'm not."
"I see that."
My eyes flicked from Harlow's eyes to her lips.
"So, about that girl."
"What about her?"
Harlow swallowed hard. "Have you spoken to her?"
"Yeah."
"And how did she respond?"
"She gets nervous."
"Yeah, but she might not be sure of your intention."
I backed Harlow up until her back hit my wall. She stared at me. I put my palm on the wall next to her head. She never took her eyes off of me.
"Aiden?"
I leaned in and brushed my lips against hers. I moved my hand to her waist as my other hand rested on the back of her head. Then I deepened the kiss. Harlow moved her hands to my chest and rested them on me as our lips moved in sync. It was the first time a kiss meant something to me.
