Hiccup POV
I was rushing back to the shack where Elsa was taking her rest. As soon as I arrived, I quickly went to her room to see if anything happens to her. When I opened the door, I saw Elsa who was sleeping peacefully on her bed and I sighed in relief that she was fine.
I shook her a bit to wake her up. "Elsa...?"
She responded me with her moans in her sleep.
"What...?" She asked with her eyes half-opened.
"C'mon. We're leaving..." I replied.
"W-Why...?" She asked surprisingly.
"No time to explain. I'll tell you later, okay?" I remarked as she nodded.
I packed everything that took me couple of minutes. I felt guilty for bothering her sleep. There's no other way but to escape from them. I went outside to put all the stuff that we need in Toothless's saddle bags.
When I came in to check on her, she's sleeping again and this is the reason why I felt so guilty. I walked towards her to wake her up again.
"Hey... you ready to go?"
"Y-Yeah..." She muttered.
"Let's go." I grabbed her hand as I escorted her to outside.
"Sorry for waking you up at this hour..." I apologized to her.
"It's fine. You don't have to apologize..." She spoke softly.
As we reached to Toothless, I mounted on him. I extended my hand for her to help her hop on him as well. I noticed Toothless who was growling unhappily as soon as Elsa set herself on his back. Probably he's feeling uncomfortable when someone strange on his back. I told him to stay calm and she was not a threat to us.
"Alright. I'm all set. You ready to go, Elsa?" I asked her.
I glanced behind my back, seeing her looked either scared or terrified at the same time.
"Y-You sure about this, Hiccup?"
"Relax. You'll get used to it..." I chuckled.
"Now hang on tight. Or you will fall." I gave her a warning.
Within a few seconds later, she did what I told her to do. But the next thing happened was not what I expected. When she wrapped her arms around my body from behind, I felt like she was trying to hug me too tight that caused me dying for some air.
"Not... that... tight...!"
"Oh s-sorry...! I'm just feeling... uh... umm..." She couldn't find the right word to complete her sentence.
"Scared?" I smirked playfully.
"What? N-No I'm not scare of anything...!" She said with determination in her eyes but my guts told me that she was. Am I right? Right?
A few moments later...
My thoughts were right. She WAS scared of... well not exactly anything but heights. She's been hugging me but not too tight all the time as we flew farther to escape.
Ever since it happened, she's quite and silence. I could hear her shivering cold. So, I'm not sure that I could do anything to comfort her except controlling the flight. After a few minutes of thinking, an idea popped in my mind.
"So... you're afraid of heights?" I broke out the silence atmosphere.
"Y-Yes..." She admitted.
"How come...?"
"I... really never been this height before..." She said with her face still buried in my head and tried not to look down.
"I wanna show you something..." I smiled even though she didn't see it.
When I ordered Toothless to fly higher to the open sky, I told her, "Open your eyes."
"Not until we land, Hiccup..." She insisted.
"Do you trust me?" I asked.
"Y-Yeah. After what you-"
"Then show me, Elsa. Can you do that?" I convinced her, hoping that I could her smiling face again.
Apparently, she did. Elsa almost jaw dropped due to what she just saw was something that she'd never seen before. I smiled to myself as my planned had been work out perfectly. I could feel her hands running slowly on my back for hug but this time it's a comfort one.
"Woah..."
"So, you like it?" I asked.
"This... is amazing. He's amazing..." She mentioned Toothless.
I'm just glad to see her happy again. I could just hope that whatever was bugging her wouldn't make her feel scare anymore.
