I step into the yard, which is somehow particularly dirty today, and look around. Just a little girl jumping around playing, but she doesn't even notice me.
"Reyanna, how nice to see you again," said Rose, lifting her skirt and walking towards me. We hugged each other tightly and I had to smile. "How nice to see you too, how are you?" I ask and she shrugs her shoulders. "Oh, well, how someone feels in a war. Actually, it's okay, but I can't quite decide whether it really feels like it used to, because it actually does", she sighs and I nod understandably. "Yes, I know that, do we want to go in?" I point inconspicuously towards the front door. "Of course, it's so muddy out here," she laughs softly and turns around.
She lets me go first and together we go to the kitchen, where I sit down at the dining table. I didn't really have the feeling that she would know why I'm here. "Can I offer you something to drink?" She asks before sitting down next to me. "Oh no, I'm not sure I'll stay that long," I smile and she sits down next to me, confused. "No, oh ... why are you here then?", She asked quietly. "Because of the lease, I should collect her," I explain briefly, but she remains seated. "I was wondering where your mother-in-law is," she laughs softly. I nod in confirmation and add: "Yes, something doesn't seem to be quite right with her. She's been so strangely nice lately." I look around and notice that nothing has changed here either.
"Did you also have an officer assigned?" Asks Rose carefully. I just nod silently. "So do we, I just don't know what to think of it. Sometimes he may be nice, but then... I don't know. How are you doing?" She looks me in the eye in a friendly manner, but at this moment we hear loud laughter from outside.
Confused, we both look out the window and sit up from our chairs. "There you see it," she says and points out. Her little sister seems to be playing with the officer, but they both laugh and even have fun.
Rose knocks loudly on the window and tries to attract the attention of her little sister. Both look over at us caught and Rose shakes her head with a serious expression. The sister immediately lets go of the man in uniform. "It really takes my last nerve. I don't know what to do."
Rose desperately sits down in the chair again. "Yes, I feel almost the same way," I confirm and also sit down on the chair again. "Why, is he like that... I don't know." She gestures with her hands and looks at me meaningfully. "Oh God, yes. He's chasing me. No matter where I go, he's always there somehow. I hate him so much.", I mutter angrily, but at that moment the door opens and the red-haired officer enters.
"Hello, could I perhaps borrow a towel?" he asks politely and smiles briefly. Rose leaves with a sigh to bring the desired item to the redhead.
"Nice weather today, isn't it?" He tries to start a conversation with me, but I don't even react to that and just look past him as if he doesn't even exist.
"Armitage, are you coming?" Someone called after him and looked into the apartment with a smile, but when he saw me, it immediately disappeared again. "Rey." He mumbled softly, and his eyes were on me. "Reyanna," I correct him again. "What are you doing here?" Asks Ben and now steps in fully, accompanied by the heavy footsteps of his boots. "I'm collecting the rent, why do I have the pleasure of seeing you here?" I also ask, looking disgusted. "I thought you had an important meeting," I add quickly, and he smiles again. "Well, you might like that, but we're doing something today that just happens to be none of your business." He now crosses his hands behind his back to appear more sarcastic.
"Here, the towel," Rose comes back and puts it into the redhead's hand, but her gaze also wanders questioningly over to his partner, whose dark gaze seems to be only meant for me. "Yes uh ... well, if you would then have the kindness to leave my house", she asks the two men to leave and both just nod before they quietly leave the house again.
"He had a huge crush on you," says Rose as she sits down next to me, laughing. "What? How do you come up with it now?" I ask confused. "I know the look the way he looked at you," she explains briefly. "No, we just know each other. He's my officer, Ben Solo to be precise. A terribly cold person," I say and she nods. "Yes, you've already talked about. How does he manage that, really everywhere to be where you are?" she asks, a little confused, but I can only shrug my shoulders. "If that were at least the worst thing about him, he is also very bossy and somehow seems a kind of God complex to have."
