ah, the hospital. what a wonderful place to be.not.
as soon as we arrived, they put me in the emergency room. the nurse placed a pressure cuff on my arm and a thermometer under my tongue. how absurd. i know that these are the specific protocols, but i didn't even have a scratch on me. more or so a headache.
a few minutes later, the nurse came back and wheeled me away to x-ray my head. i told them that i only had a mild headache, and that there was nothing wrong. and in the end, i was correct.
since there was nothing majorly wrong with me, i asked if i could leave, but the nurse turned down that idea immediately and said i had to talk to a doctor first. so there i was trapped in the emergency room, waiting.
a few moments or so later a doctor walked around the corner, and i had to stop my mouth from falling wide open. from tenya's description, this had to be katsuki's father. the foster father, dr. aizawa.
one of the first things i immediately noticed about the man was that he shared the same eyes as his kids, tired looking with circling dark bags. i still find this unusual.
standing tall, around six foot or so, dr. aizawa was a pretty slim man. you could definitely see his bicep muscles prodding out of his uniform. since he was wearing his jet-black hair in a messy bun, i could tell that it had to be around shoulder length or so.
"ah, so you must be shoto todoroki" he softly mumbled as he scribbled something down in his notes.
"nothing appears to be broken, seeing that all the tests we ran came back negative. how are you feeling?"
"just fine" i murmured, "just a little headache though, nothing else".
he noticed my grimace as his cool fingers explored gently along my skull.
"does it feel tender?".
"not exactly". i've had worse, and you can thank enji for that.
"after taking a hit to your head like that, you might experience some post-traumatic stress or disorientation for the next couple of days" he scribbled down a few more notes on his clipboard as he continued talking. "we called your mother, she's currently in the waiting room awaiting for you to return. but, if the pain doesn't go away by then call and make an appointment. i'll see what i can do".
"thank you, but that won't be necessary" i shrugged. "i'm just grateful that katsuki happened to be near when the incident took place. without him.." i paused, eyes looking anywhere and everywhere, never meeting the doctors, "i'd probably be dead".
i couldn't help but acknowledge the way that his eyebrows raised at the mention of his son's name. aizawa stopped taking notes and looked up from his clipboard.
"katsuki, huh?" he questioned.
"yeah" i mumbled. "it was surreal.. like i imagined the whole thing. he got to me so fast.. i swear, especially when he was a couple of cars down".
"well then, it seems like you were immensely fortunate" dr. aizawa said with a smile tugging at his lips, as he signed my patient chart.
a few minutes later, the nurse that was taking my vital signs and temperature came back into the room to tell me that i was finally allowed to leave and check out.
i didn't have much on me, seeing that i had already put my backpack in my car before that whole incident took place. so i didn't have any luggage to carry around.
hallways, what a nuisance.
as soon as i turned the corner into a short hallway that was leading to the waiting room, i noticed the three of them standing there.
