nature.

weird how just one singular word can mean so much. not only to the human eye, but vampire as well.

as me and katsuki made our way up the small mountain, i couldn't help but let a few questions slip. which i would soon find out later, he didn't particularly mind answering.

"so, does a person have to be dying.. to become like you?" i asked, stepping over a few logs and branches.

"no" he shook his head, "that's just aizawa. he wouldn't do this to someone who had another choice".

"i'm sorry to ask.." i softly mumbled, making katsuki snap his head up, "i know it's probably none of my business, but how long have you been like this for?"

"..since nineteen-eighteen. s'when aizawa found me".

"how did he find you?".

he huffed out a laugh, which more or so sounded forced. "in a hospital, dying of spanish influenza. at the time, m'parents had already died".

"i'm sorry.. that must've be–" but the rest of my sentence hadn't come, for katsuki had interrupted.

"don't apologize, halfie" he huffed, breaking off a few tree branches along the way, "ain't y'er fault".

seeing as there wasn't much i could say, i just hummed in response.

when we reached the top of the cliff, i couldn't help but huff out a small laugh, making katsuki chuckle as well.

"finally.." i sighed, dropping my bag down onto the petite perch of mossy grass.

katsuki rolled his eyes as he lightly shoved my shoulder. "i told you, i could'a carried that f'you".

"and i told you that i didn't need any help" i glared, sitting down next to my bag. "i'm a grown man".

"y'er seventeen, halfie".

"and you aren't?"

well, as much as i hate to admit it, that was a stupid question of me to ask. obviously he wasn't. though his perpetual age was seventeen, he was much older than that.

"tch– don't start getting all technical on me now, icy-hot" stated katsuki as he took a seat besides me, only a few inches away– which to me seemed like a lot.

the view was nice as you could see pretty much about everything from here. i'd definitely have to give some credit to katsuki for finding these beautiful, one of a kind places.

after a moment or two of pure silence, nothing but nature making noise, i spoke up, having the need to ask him some more questions.

"what was it like, to y'know.." i struggled to find the right words, playing with my fingers, "to be.."

however, since he wasn't able to read my mind, katsuki must have known what i was trying to say.

"pains me to say it.." he grumbled, "but it was very excruciating. what aizawa did was much harder.. not many of us would have the restraint to do that".

"so he didn't.. just bite you?" i asked, dumbfounded.

he snickered, "no, not exactly. when we taste, human blood, a sort of frenzy begins. and it feels almost impossible to stop".

i stared at the ground, watching as the grass blew around with the wind. "but he did".

"first with me, then with one of my adoptive siblings, deku" he shrugged, almost looking pained. "we were one of the first people he turned".
