Ellie decided that she still wanted to go to school on the Monday morning, falling behind on her school work now would only lead to a slippery slope.
Luke was back in town from visiting his relatives and he already had a lot of ideas about how to deal with their current supervillain problem.
Ellie met Luke and Barbara by her locker on Monday morning. Ellie's head was still pounding from the traces of toxin still in her system. Such a little dose had thrown her for such a loop.
Ellie was trying to avoid the loud noises and direct sunlight. "I feel like I'm developing the worst hangover of my life" Ellie grumbled to her two friends.
"Wouldn't know? I've never had a drop of alcohol in my life" Luke decided to brag about.
"Well good for you" Ellie hissed at Luke. "I can't believe I still feel like crap after just a scratch of the poison" Ellie cringed at thinking what a full dose of the poison would do to her.
Seeing and fighting with her father was one of the worst experiences of Ellie's life. Ellie felt so powerless to his skill and power, the only thing she could do was go limp during the beating that he gave her. So odd that the poison had made her hallucinate Bruce of all people.
"Are you sure that you're ready to face school this morning?" Luke noticed that Ellie was wincing in pain with her every movement. "You look like you're ready to drop any minute" Luke commented.
Ellie gave him the evil eye.
"I can't keep missing school to go chasing bad guys. Me and Alfred are going to check the scene after school" Ellie told Luke and Barbara.
"To do what?" Barbara shrieked. "If you try and take on Copperhead again she might actually kill you this time" Barbara tried to reason with Ellie, even Warbird might have trouble facing off against a master assassin like Copperhead.
"That's why I'm counting on our engineering master mind to pull something out of his bag of tricks to make my suit resistant to the she-snake's claws" Ellie grinned at Luke.
Luke laughed nervously. "I'll see if my father left some notes for improving against the poison chemical, but if he had any ideas he would have probably used them by now" Luke tells Ellie, and Luke knew he didn't have the skill that his father had for this work.
The three of them started walking towards class. Luke daydreaming about the chemical and engineering formulas he would have to use. Barbara hopping along at her usual pace. And Ellie moving while her body was filled with pain. All of them moving at the same pace now as Barbara.
