I’ll huff and I’ll puff and I’ll blow your mind!
Kate had turned my phone into a vibrator I thought as I reached over the counter for it, managing to drop some mustard on my white shirt.
Kate: “Hey! :D thank you for the edits!
Alice: “haha hey! :) you are totally welcome!”
Kate: “I’m probably going to get on your nerves with these pictures”
Alice: “I really don’t mind at all…hey so you going to the café later?”
Was that a little too forward? No, I’m being stupid. That’s a normal thing to ask.
Kate: “Yep I sure am! You going to be there too?”
Alice: “I always am”
Kate: “yeah you seem to like the café a lot! How long have you been going there?”
Oh well about three years on and off and then every day since you walked in.
Alice: “oh a few years now, it’s a lovely little quiet space. I like that I can freely write in there and the atmosphere is some-what inspiring.”
Kate: “Well I’m going to invade your little quiet space later :P”
Alice: “haha yeah sure, I would like the company!:D”
Yes! Wait, I’m doing it again. I can’t be so excited to see her or talk to her. She has a boyfriend so pull it together already. I’m going to hang out with my new friend and that’s it.
Kate: “great! I’ll be there around 5, sounds good?”
Alice: “Yep sounds good!:)”
I had just placed my phone back on the counter and was halfway off my bed when I heard it go off again.
Kate: “one last thing; you want to smoke a spliff?”
Alice: “haha I thought that was on the agenda already ;)”
Kate: “aah a woman after my own heart!”
I could not help but sing along to Colby Caillat on the radio as I bounced around the house getting ready for the day. There seemed to be a new spring in my step and I knew the dangerous tune I had been dancing to could lead to either a fatal end or a beautiful new beginning.
I checked the time on my phone as I headed for work and as I walked along I noticed a mother with her child, most likely on their way to school. She reached down and fixed his hair as he stubbornly pushed away out of embarrassment. His mother let out a simple understanding smile, her little boy is growing up. She reached into her bag and pulled out chocolate bar. His eyes lit up and he grabbed his mother as she kissed him on the head. Her little boy may be growing up but he is still her little boy. My heart stung a little at the sight as memories of my own mother came trickling back. I remember what her hugs felt like, I don’t remember the last time I felt one. I remember how her eyes lit up every time she saw me; I don’t remember the last time it happened. I remember the sound of her voice but I can’t remember the last time she said ‘I love you.’ It’s amazing how easily we take for granted that which made our lives extraordinary, all because we could not see its worth. I didn’t realize the importance of feeling her love until I could not feel it so clearly anymore. If I could go back, I would not have pushed her away but fought harder to find a way to keep her close and remain who I am.
I checked the time again and decided to move along before I got late. The office was full and buzzing with staff and crew and a few models here and there. I will not lie, they do make the office more pleasant and have boosted my ego a little with inviting me to parties and clubs but much to their disappointment I would humbly decline, mixing pleasure with business is not always the best combo.
