Don't let the munchies get you!

Months had gone by since my video call with Kate. We didn't talk that much during that time but regularly dropped a "hey how you doing?" or a meme here and there. I liked it more when she would randomly send me something funny, the thought that she had thought of me made me smile.

I was heading to work when my phone buzzed.

Leyla: "Hey..Are you free after work today?"

me: "Hi lol you do know I'm going to see you in like 2 minutes, why are you texting to ask ?

Leyla: oh right..haha aah well are you free?

me: "lol yes, why what's up?"

Leyla: "Well some of us are going to play badminton. I was wondering if you want to come?"

me: "oh uuh I'm not very good.."

Leyla: "Perfect! I could teach you!"

Guess she's not going to take no for an answer.

me: "Sure, okay why not. lol seeya in a bit then you can tell me details"

As soon as I sent the last text sure enough there was the marketing gang with some of the local teachers including Leyla.

I walked up and greeted everyone. "Hey! We so happy you joining us to play badminton!", one of the teachers said. I nodded and smiled "yeah me too! Should be fun!" My eyes landed on Leyla who was already looking for my reaction. I quickly glanced away.

Even that was something Kate often did. She would always look for my reaction to things and I would look for hers. Curious as to how we saw the world and felt about everything.

I was grateful there would be a lot of others with us at least so maybe I wouldn't even play against or with her. I could always try to avoid it but I guess that might be obvious since she she decided to pick up all of Kate's attributes.

We walked in the office and I saw Bella at the computer. "Heeey! You're so early today," I sat down next to her.  "oh yeah, had some extra work to do and I grabbed you a coffee." She handed me a coffee and took a sip of her bean milk. "awww you didn't have to do that. You're the best! Also how can you drink that?" She rolled her eyes. "It's not that bad, I like it and it's healthy. Here" She tried to hand me the bean milk to try and I scoffed. "ah ah no way!" She giggled, "come on just try it!" She trapped down my hands with her arm and tried to get me to drink it.

I moved my head from side to side not daring to let the straw get anywhere close to my mouth. We started play fighting for a bit. "Um hey Niko?" I caught Bella's hands in mine now and turned to see Leyla standing behind us looking rather akwardly at us. "oh hey Leyla. Yep what's up?" I said still trying to shake off Bella.

"I just wanted to let you know the details for later." She sounded a little annoyed. It made me feel more akward so I told Bella to cut it out and stood up. Bella pulled a face at me and went back to working on the computer.

"Sorry about that. Yep sure what time and where?" She eyed out Bella before turning back to me and gave me the details. "Cool, can't wait!" I sat back down next to Bella. "What's going on there?" Bella eyed me suspiciously. "oh hell no, nothing like what you're thinking. She just invited me to play badminton later with some of the others." Bella let out a hmph sound. "No-one asked me." She pouted. It was actually cute. "oh is someone jealous that I'm more popular than them??" I teased.

She smacked my arm. "No! I don't care about that." She rolled her eyes. "Well I was going to ask you to join...but since y - Ok I'll come." I burst out laughing. "yeah and you're not jealous" I said sarcastically. She thought for a moment, grabbed my ear playfully, looked me dead in the eye and said, " I said I didn't care about you being popular. Doesn't mean I don't care about other things." Then she got up and walked off to the front office.
