Nova

Stage 4-depression

This is the stage where most people think it's the end. They have their last cry, scream, their last grief. It's when all the imaginations stop and we finally see the reality of everything.

And it sucks.

After we've bargained and it no longer feels like an option, we have to face our worst nightmare. That someone we loved has gone, it's going to be hard and it's going to feel horrible. As we enter this stage the pain becomes more apparent, our panic has subsided and it all becomes more clear, it feels more unavoidable.

We let the sadness pull us in because that's all we have left. Sadness. It's messy as fuck.

"Nova, your phones been blowing up."

"Yeah, what?" I mumble over my shoulder to focus on finding the men. I'm so close to finding Austen.

"Nova? Hello!" I hit Kelly's hand away cursing at her. "I've been talking to you." She huffs placing her hands on her hips.

"Sorry. What is it?" I sigh and push aside the work for now.

"Your phone. Why aren't you answering it?" She holds up the phone showing too many missed
calls from a random number.

"Probably some cold caller." I shrug taking the phone and switching it off.

"I don't think a cold caller would call that many times." I narrow my eyes at her when she mumbles under her breath.

"Whatever. Are you ready?" I ask standing up from the chair.

"Mmm...yep!" She turns around after looking over all of her luggage.

We're finally leaving the cabins today and although I couldn't be happier to, a part of me doesn't want to leave. This is where everything began and became something. It's all I have left.

"Great, let's go before my mum comes in screaming at us." Kelly nods her head and together we begin to take our bags into the car.

Ben comes and helps us and I'm surprised to see Kelly thanking him without a fuss. I eye her weirdly. Once all my bags are in the car I pick up his bags and hold them close to me. I plan on making a stop at his mother's house and drop them off.

"Right to the house!" My mother claps her hands. I hesitate and stand by the car that is packed with my and Kelly's luggage.

"Actually," I speak. My parents stop and turn towards me, "I'm not coming."

"What do you mean? You're not staying here." My mum quietly fussing with my dad.

"No, I've rented an apartment." My parents freeze, their quiet fussing stops.

"What? Since when were you moving out?" Jakes's head pops out from the car, a frown on his face.

"I think it's time and I would like to gain independence." I shrug, the lie easily coming out.

"But, you're so young." I roll my eyes at my father.

"I'm an adult. You know most parents would encourage this." I mutter walking towards the car.

"After everything you've been through do you think this is a good idea?" My mother casts me a worried look.

I sigh softly and embrace her in a hug. "I need this mum, be happy for me. Please?"

She holds on to me tightly, stroking my hair."I'm happy for you, I'm just worried." She pulls back looks me over with a smile.

"I'll only be a half an hour drive away." I chuckle.
