Chapter 36|The Devil Hears Everything

I take in a breath and slowly release it, scared to even breath in fear that I'll break whatever this weird tension is in the air. You know the moment when it's just awkward silence, fiddling with anything you can, your thought travelling farther then NASA ever has. The quick flick up of eyes, looking around to see if anyone else plans on talking, hoping you don't make awkward eye contact with someone.

That's exactly what I do, I look up accidentally connect eyes with Liam and I take the opportunity to ask him, what the fuck is going on. He shrugs his shoulder while making a face saying 'does it look like I know?' I glare my eyes at him and he glares at me. We silently argue with scrunched up faces and glared eyes until we realise that Kelly is watching us.

I smile silently to myself when he backs down and I lean back priding my ego. "What's going on?" Liam breaks the ice.

They both turn towards me and I'm taken aback slightly. Don't look at me! "I dunno." I shrug.

"You were the one who came here." Kelly says matter of fact.

"Well I came here for Liam, my plans don't really include you." I look at her with a glare. She rolls her eyes and I imagine just stabbing those same eyes with a fork.

"What did you want to talk about?" Liam turns to me, seeming genuinely Interested.

"We have a few things to catch up on, it's not going to be easy." I sigh, dreading the reaction I'm about to get.

"What is it?" His eyebrows draw together in confusion.

"I was right. Grayson's alive."

He stares at me in silence, his mouth in a hard line. He clenches his jaw and turns away from me, looking down at his feet. Guess we're back to this awkward silence then. I lean back on my chair, my hand rubbing my stomach softly. Kelly's eyes train into my stomach, her throat bopping up and down. I know that look, she's got something on her mind usually i would comfort her and encourage her to let it out.

But then she stabbed me in the fucking back and I could care less about her.

"How long?" Liam mutters. "How long have you known for?" He explains.

"Three days now. But I had my suspicions for a while now." I admit. I mean, I did tell him and he chose to ignore me and call me crazy.

Liam runs a hand through his hair, releasing a ragged breath. "Have you seen him? Does he know?" His eyes have unshed tears in them and I realise how much he's hurting right now.

"Yeah. He knows." I whisper softly.

Liam scoffs and pushes up from his seat, the chair falling back onto the floor with a loud bang. "Why am I only just finding out now?"

"Because it wasn't the right time to tell anyone. We had to get everything right, Liam." I try to explain carefully.

Liam turn his back to me, clenching his fists. "The right time? You knew about this for three fucking days, and you're only telling me now!" He shouts and that's where I draw the line.

"Okay. I'm not going to sit here and listen to you yell and scream at me. I came here because you deserve to know." I choose my words carefully, not wanting to anger him further.

"Did you know?" He turns to Kelly unexpectedly.

She stutters, looking to me for help but I just shrug and let her deal with it. She wanted to act like a big man, there you go sweetie. Have fun.
