Guardian Angel

Kenny's Story

"What happened?" asked Forth angrily. He looked at the figure of Kenny who was lying weakly on the bed with his face full of cuts and bruises.

Doctor Vram gestured for Forth to follow him out. "He ran away this morning. A nurse told me that earlier there was a man who came to Kenny and slapped him very hard. The man then came out of Kenny's room and at that moment Kenny came out of his room and ran outside."

"Don't you guys have CCTV footage that can show where he went and who the man who slapped him was?"

"There is CCTV footage showing where Kenny is going, but the man is not clearly visible in the footage." Doctor Vram looked concerned and felt guilty.

"Where did you find him?"

"A security guard found him passed out in the back garden. It appears he had cuts and bruises because he had fallen several times. He injured his fractured ankle again."

"Oh, God!" Forth was furious. He canceled his lunch appointment with Beam because the hospital called about Kenny. There was a bad feeling that made Forth finally decided to go to the hospital immediately.

However, the hospital knows Forth is Kenny's guardian and he himself has promised to be responsible until Kenny recovers. However, at this time, it seemed that Kenny's healing process would be getting longer.

Forth was worried. Beam just read the messages he sent without replying. "Please tighten the security for him, Doctor. I think he is in some trouble because when I accidentally bumped into him he was also running away from something or someone."

"Sure, Mr Jaturapoom, don't worry, I'll take better care of it so something like this doesn't happen again."

"Couldn't you contact his brother and tell him about his condition? He should be his guardian now. I am willing to be his guardian because I was the one who bumped into him and I feel responsible for his healing, but matters relating to his private life should not concern me."

"Unfortunately, even though I used to be quite close to his brother, but it was a long time ago and when I asked Kenny about his brother now, he wouldn't answer and just cried. They never really got along."

Forth took a deep breath. He decided to return to Kenny's room.

"Phi," said Kenny, awake and lying staring at the ceiling when Forth came in.

"How are you?" asked Forth as he sat down in the chair he pulled toward the bed. "Why did you run away?"

Kenny looked at Forth with an unreadable gaze then heaved a long breath and tears welled up in his eyes. "I was... scared. That guy came after me and said he was going to kill me."

"Who is he? Why would he want to kill you?" asked Forth furiously. "When I hit you, you were running away from him too, right?"

Kenny nodded. "I'm scared of him. He'll drag me home and do that to me again."

Forth saw Kenny's face turn pale and he also trembled. Forth reached out, trying to calm Kenny. "Hey, what's wrong? Tell me why he had to drag you home?"

"He's my stepbrother. I've been living alone with him since our parents died in an accident. Since then he started to show strange behavior towards me. He became very possessive and some time before I ran away from home, he ... raped and kept me inside his room for days."

Kenny's tears flowed freely. Forth was very surprised to hear his words. He reached out to stroke Kenny's almost hysterical head, but Kenny grabbed Forth's hand and he fell on him.

Kenny stretched his arms around Forth's waist and buried his head into Forth's chest and cried even harder. Forth wanted to break free, but he was worried that Kenny would get even more hysterical.

Just then, the bedroom door opened and a woman came in babbling and looking down at her wet dress. "Nong Kay, if I knew your room was on this floor, I'd be lazy to visit you, especially since the damn elevator was stuck and was being repaired. I almost suffocated to death from going up the stairs and... hey... who are you guys? Is this not  Nong Kay's room? Owh, I'm in the wrong room? Sorry, sorry, uh, hei, I know you
. You're Forth from the engineering faculty, right? Ah, I heard a lot about you and your handsome doctor lover, oops sorry, I talk too much. Please continue your activities, I apologize once again for interrupting."

The woman quickly exited the room, leaving Forth and Kenny still hugging.
