Lily was sitting in Elena's car, looking peacefully at the landscape that passed before her.
In the back, Destiny couldn't stop laughing.
"I can't believe it. You two are having a baby! What in the Wattpad hell is this? My sister and Elena fricking Gómez! This is crazy!"
"Yeah, yeah, keep saying that and I'll tell you something worse," Lily said, annoyed.
"Lily," Elena sighed, behind the wheel.
"What?" Destiny asked.
"You're literally sitting on the crime scene."
"Lily!"
"EEEW! I'm sitting right where you two made a baby! That's disgusting!"
Abruptly, she opened her mouth wide and took a shocked breath.
"Wait, so you lost your V-card ?!"
"Uh, I don't know, ask that to the kid growing in my uterus," Lily replied.
"Oh my God, I need to make a cake to celebrate that! You won't be an adult virgin!"
"You two are so chaotic," Elena marveled, an amused smile on her lips.
"Yeah, well, you should see our dad. OH MY GOD! You're gonna have to meet dad!"
And she burst into a giggle, half hysterical, as Lily sighed. Elena focused on the road, one hand resting on Lily's thigh.
They were on their way to pick up Hazel at her elementary school. They had to tell her the news, and Lily wanted Destiny to be there. She needed it. She knew her little sisters were closer than she was to them, and that Destiny could handle Hazel's reaction.
But before they told her anything, they were going to buy ice cream. Hazel would have an easier time coping with the news with a ton of sugar in her stomach.
Elena gradually slowed down as she reached the side of the building, Lily and Destiny hastened to connect Lily's phone to the wire connecting to the radio.
"What are you guys doing?"
"Watch and learn," Destiny replied.
As the students exited through the school gate, Lily opened her window wide and Destiny turned the volume on to play some music.
'They see me rollin'
They hatin'...'"Damn, I really need a sibling," Elena laughed.
Destiny stuck her head out the window and screamed, dark hair blowing in the wind:
"Hey, weirdo, it's us!"
Hazel appeared in the crowd, running in their direction. Avoiding the stares of the other students, she rushed out to the car and threw herself headlong through Destiny's open window.
"Holy shit!" Cried Elena.
"Drive, drive!" Hazel ordered, pulling her feet inside.
Laughing, Lily motioned for Elena to obey and they drived away under the stunned gazes of the students. Hazel took a seat next to Destiny, buckling her belt, placing her backpack at her feet.
"Wait, who's car is that?"
"Mine. Hi," Elena replied, giving her a shy wave.
"That's Elena. My girlfriend," Lily added.
"Oh. Cool. Are we gonna get ice cream?"
"Yup," Destiny replied, her hair blowing in the wind.
"That's all?" Lily wondered. "You don't have anything else to say?"
"Please?" Hazel offered in confusion.
"About me and Lena," Lily clarified, rolling her eyes.
"Oh! Well, no. Good for you."
"Haz, we've been dating for two years," Lily explained.
This time, Hazel stopped trying to tuck her brown hair back behind her ears to look at her with wide eyes.
"Wait, what?"
"Yeah, right?" Destiny intervened. "I would never have guessed."
"And you didn't tell us?"
"I didn't tell anyone. We wanted to keep it secret."
Hazel shrugged.
"Well, okay. I don't care. I want chocolate ice cream."
Elena and Lily exchanged a look and the girl shrugged.
"She's like that. If she's cool with it, she's cool with it. If she's not, she throws a tantrum. There's no in between."
Elena drove to the Burger King drive through, Destiny and Hazel, excited, ordered the sweetest ice cream possible, Elena had vanilla and Lily, caramel.
When they were served, Elena crossed the avenue and headed for the empty parking lot of a closed convenience store. She stopped the car and the four girls enjoyed their ice cream, talking about school and others.
After a while, Lily cleared her throat.
"Haz, there's something else we need to tell you."
Hazel turned to her, nodding her head, her mouth full of ice.
"Okay, so listen, let me explain everything to you and don't panic."
The little girl nodded and Lily turned to Elena, who spoke up.
"So, I'm a trans woman. I've been a trans woman basically my whole life and I will always be a woman," she explained.
"Okay," Hazel replied.
"But, the thing is, I'm pregnant," Lily resumed.
Hazel dropped her spoon into her ice cream cup, her mouth open.
"What the fuck?"
"Wow! Language!" Destiny exclaimed.
"I'm pregnant with Lena's baby and we're keeping it," Lily added.
"What?"
She turned to Destiny.
"Did you know?"
"Nope. They told me today."
"Does dad know?"
"Not yet," Lily replied, wincing.
"Is this a joke?" The girl asked, confused.
"It's not. We wouldn't joke about that."
Hazel brushed her hair away from her face, frowning.
"So, you're having a baby?"
"Yes."
"And you're having her baby?" She asked pointing to Elena.
"She is," Elena replied.
A big smile spread over the girl's face.
"Am I gonna be an aunty?"
Lily sighed.
"Yes, you are."
"Awesome!"
"Right?" Destiny intervened. "We're gonna be aunts! This is gonna be awesome!"
"How are you gonna name it? Don't name it Chad or Brandon!"
"Or Brian," Destiny added.
Lily watched her two little sisters engage in a debate before turning to her girlfriend with a raised eyebrow.
"See? I told you. Support system."
