Chp. 9) Things Heat Up!

"Can I get Cassandra and Edmond to come to the battlefield please!" Lt. Surge yelled. I saw Cassandra get up from the tables next to the girl in the wheelchair. A large man in a white sailor outfit stood up from a chair from up here on the balcony. He walked past me looking down at Cassandra, eyeing her as if he was studying her. The man I assumed was Edmond, finally reached the stairs and walked down them with his hand on the railing. Lenny came running up, excited about his victory and his pokemon evolving. I gave him a thumbs up, and looked back at the battlefield where Cassandra and Edmond were going to battle.

"You seem interested on how she'll do." I heard a familiar voice behind me. I turned around and saw Andrew.

"Yeah," I replied. "After all, we haven't really seen her battle before." Andrew leaned up against the railing next to me. I looked around, and noticed that Lenny was talking to Nurse Joy. I assumed she was here to heal up the pokemon in the tournament, so I turned back around and focused on the battlefield.

"His battle was impressive," Andrew said while pointing at Lenny. "It was one sided, but that shows how strong he is."

"It also shows how far he has come in such a short amount of time he has traveled with me." I said.

"Oh," Andrew responded. "He's travelling with you?"

"Yup." I answered.

"That explains why he's strong then, 'because he's learning from you by traveling with you."

"I can see that, but he's also learning everything as a trainer from experiencing things himself." I said. "When I first battled him, he only knew how to copy others while battling," I looked back at Lenny, who was given back his pokemon from Nurse Joy. "But now, he is his own trainer, his own person."

"I see." Andrew said while also looking back at Lenny, who was walking up to the balcony railing.

"This match can begin once both trainers send out their pokemon!" Lt. Surge shouted. Andrew and I turned around, and glued our eyes onto the battlefield. I was extremely curious on how Cassandra would do, and I'm sure Andrew is thinking the same thing.

"Clefairy, come on out!" Cassandra said while throwing a pokeball. Her Clefairy appeared, it gleefully hopped around.

"Hmph," Edmond grunted, seeming unimpressed. "Machoke, let's do this!" Edmond then threw a blue pokeball with red stripes, and a muscular, kinda human like pokemon, appeared. It started flexing its muscles, showing off its strength. I pulled out my pokedex, and it told me that this is a fighting type pokemon named Machoke. It's known as the superpower pokemon and is the evolution of a fighting type pokemon named Machop.

"This battle can begin!" Lt. Surge shouted while raising his hand up, signaling to begin.

"Machoke, use focus energy!" Edmond demanded while crossing his arms. Machoke began to flex and an orange ring of aura appeared around Machoke's feet. Orange energy erupted from the ring of aura, covering Machoke's body with this energy.

"Clefairy, use disarming voice!" Cassandra said while pointing at Machoke.

"Cle-FAIRY!" Clefairy screeched, and pink sound waves could be seen going towards Edmond's Machoke.Machoke got hit by the sound waves, and immediately covered its ears with its hands.

"Use payback Machoke!" Edmond demanded. Machoke was then surrounded by another aura, but this time it was black. It then charged towards Clefairy, and pounded it hard in the face. Clefairy was sent flying, and was on the edge of the battlefield.

"Use moonlight, and recover from that hit Clefairy!" Cassandra demanded. A crescent moon shaped symbol formed onto Clefairy's forehead, and began glowing a bright blue. Sparkles shot out from the symbol, and they landed onto Clefairy, healing it from its injuries. The crescent moon symbol disappeared from Clefairy's forehead. "Now, use metronome Clefairy!" Cassandra said while swinging her arm in front of her. Clefairy began wiggling its fingers back and forth. Suddenly a pink ball of energy, with a blue aura surrounding it, formed in Clefairy's hands.
